Daily Inspiration: Meet Garrison Hudson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Garrison Hudson.

Hi Garrison, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Known as Garrison, a local Atlanta street photographer who enjoys taking unique photos while exploring the urban city scape. I got my first camera right before I took a trip to Australia around the age of ten years old. I have always been one to take pictures of anything and everything. I got really big into photography right after COVID-19 in November of 2020 when I borrowed my mom’s Canon Rebel T5i and took off on a cross-country road trip with some friends. I shot my first wedding in November of 2021 using a Sony a6500 that I borrowed from my partner, Huf.fotography. Shortly after the wedding, I started taking photography very serious. I sold my 1982 GMC pickup truck I’ve had since high school to pay for the camera I own today, which is a Sony a7R3. I’d like to say I have come a very long way in photography, hours upon hours of Youtube and web surfing everything you could want to learn about photography. I am still learning more and more everyday. Also, I am thankful for never giving up photography and using it as a reminder to appreciate the little things in life.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It’s not really a struggle but selling my ole red truck to buy my camera was very hard to do and I thought about it for months before I actually went through with it. Sold her for four grand and used to money to buy a body and a lens. Although I do miss that truck, I wouldn’t be where I am today without getting rid of it. I am so grateful for doing so as my photography keeps leveling higher and higher up the grid.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am mostly known for my street photography I have taken around the beautiful city of Atlanta. I want people to see what I see through my own eyes and what kind of artwork I can create with it. I am most proud of the progress I am made in photography in such a short period of time. I haven’t been doing this very long, imagine a few more years of experience for myself. I am also proud of hitting 25kjust recently on Instagram. Without the ones who support me, there’s no telling where I would be right now. God has blessed me in showing me where I shine best.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
If I had to give any advice for starting out, I’d say shoot as much as possible. Take pictures and edit pictures as much as possible to be able to perfect the craft. I am still learning so many new things on the daily from the University of Youtube and Google. Also, keep your art unique to you. Do not let anyone hold you back and shine brighter than ever before. You got this. You can’t give up.
