Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah McCray.
Hi Hannah, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Our business is fairly new, we started this business in July 2022. Before we opened J&K Play Yard, we owned a children’s online boutique. Prior to both of our small business adventures, my husband and I were both in the United States Air Force. We started our business because we were transitioning from the online children’s boutique and wanted something that would allow us to interact with customers and still be something we could do with our children.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The journey has been short so far. But I would say the biggest struggle is juggling family life along with the business. Our last business, we could work when the kids were in daycare or at night when they were asleep. For this business, our events are on the weekend so learning how to juggle the children along with us for these events has been interesting to say the least. But we absolutely love being able to bring our children, show them the ropes, and teach them a good work ethic at such a young age.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
We specialize in mobile soft play. Mobile soft play is just that soft play for children under five years old. We provide a contained, safe, fun learning environment for children under 5 for a magnitude of events. I am very proud of our ability to make our setup work for any environment. We have serviced clients in an apartment, large homes, townhouses, event halls, indoors and even outdoors. The thing that sets us the most apart from others visually is the aesthetics of our equipment. We specialize in aesthetically pleasing soft play. Neutral colors that will match any theme and that can be personalized for any event. Also, we care tremendously for our customers. We realize if it’s a 1st or 4th birthday, the day is very special for the parents and for the children. Our goal is to create a smooth process of reserving and set up to make the birthday party as stress-free for the parents and fun for the children.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
The biggest apps that help with our line of work is social media. Social media helps us to spread the word of our business, show potential clients our products, and build a brand. We love to share behind the scenes on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.
