Today we’d like to introduce you to Isaac Salomon
Hi Isaac, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Creativity has always been a big part of who I am, ever since I was a child. In elementary school, I found joy in dance, but by middle school, music completely captured my heart and stayed with me all the way through high school. When college came around, though, I put that creative side on hold to focus on academics. Still, I could feel a void—a need for something to challenge and inspire me creatively again.
That’s when photography entered my life, almost by chance. It started as “phone-ography.” I’d always been fascinated by how things looked through my eyes—how light fell on a sidewalk or how framing a moment could make it feel special and cinematic. With Instagram on the rise, I bought one of those clip-on phone lenses, and just like that, I was hooked.
I wanted more than what my phone could offer, and in 2014, I was incredibly lucky to be gifted my first DSLR camera. That gift changed everything. I flipped the settings to manual (even though I had no idea what I was doing at first!) and spent countless hours learning, experimenting, and refining my craft. What started as a hobby has turned into something much deeper—a passion that continues to grow.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My journey with photography has been a mix of smooth sailings and moments where I definitely felt like I was on the struggle bus. In the beginning, it was tough—everything was so new, and I often found myself frustrated when the lighting I envisioned didn’t turn out how I wanted or when parts of an image weren’t as sharp as I had hoped. But at the same time, it was exciting. There was so much to learn, and because of that, my growth felt exponential. Every new skill or concept I mastered opened up a world of possibilities.
One of my biggest struggles, though—both then and now—is self-doubt. I’ve caught myself passing up opportunities because I didn’t feel my work was “good enough” for what the client might need. Or I’d procrastinate on sharing my work on social media, worrying it wouldn’t resonate. But over time, I’ve started to realize something important: if people are reaching out to me and continuing to work with me, it’s because they see value in what I create.
Not every image or style will be for everyone, and that’s okay. What matters is that I keep showing up for my craft, continuing to hone my skills and refine my vision. Photography has taught me that growth isn’t always linear, but every step forward is worth it.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Over the years, I’ve explored so many different types of photography, but my heart has found its home in portraits, couples, weddings, families, seniors, and event photography. There’s something incredibly special about capturing moments that hold so much meaning—images that my clients can look back on years later and still feel the same emotions they did when the moment was first captured. That’s the kind of magic I strive to create with every session.
Looking back, I’m most proud of how far I’ve come—not just in my photography and editing skills but also in the confidence I’ve built in my craft. It’s been a journey of growth and discovery, and knowing that I get to create something meaningful for others makes it all so worthwhile.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I’m endlessly grateful to the people who have supported me throughout my photography journey. To my cousin, who believed in me enough to gift me my very first DSLR and set me on this path. To my partner, who’s always there to cheer me on, encourage me to take on new opportunities, and remind me of my potential. To the colleagues who have generously offered their time, insights, and critiques, helping me grow and improve. And to my returning clients—thank you for trusting me with your moments and for helping me build a portfolio that I’m proud of. Your support means everything, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without each of you.
