Today we’d like to introduce you to Isha Sachar.
Hi Isha, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Our story didn’t begin as a business idea: it began as a necessity, a leap of faith, and a mother-daughter duo built on resilience.
Before Blush Decor ever existed, my mother spent more than two decades working two jobs as a Banker and a Realtor – while raising my siblings. Event designing was her quiet passion, a hobby. She would decorate for family, never charging a dollar, simply because creating beautiful spaces felt natural to her.
Then the pandemic changed everything. A surge of newly licensed, social media-savvy real estate agents flooded the market, and the industry shifted quickly. My mom watched her client base shrink as the new era of agents took over. Suddenly, the career she had relied on for 20 years could no longer sustain the household. Mortgage payments, bills, and the pressure of keeping our family afloat became overwhelming.
A family member encouraged her to turn her hobby into a business, and in 2022, she took the first step. She began with small events like, baby showers, birthdays, intimate gatherings and slowly building inventory and connections. But starting from scratch is never easy, and the financial pressure kept mounting.
In May 2024, I had my first baby. A month later, my mother had to make one of the hardest decisions of her life: leaving her banking job, her only stable income. Despite the fear, she chose to believe that this transition could be an opportunity rather than a setback.
I knew she couldn’t carry this alone. Between diaper changes and feeding my newborn baby, I began diving deep into the event decor industry. My 8 years at Apple – working closely with C-level executives, mastering customer communication at the highest level, creating branded presentations became the foundation for how we would elevate our brand. I built our social media presence, and helped refine our client experience into something warm, professional, and intentional.
What started as my mother’s solo effort transformed into a true mother-daughter duo. We combined her creative eye, my strategic mindset, and our shared determination to build something meaningful – something that worked out really well.
In October 2024, we booked our first bride together.
In January 2025, we executed our first large scale wedding at a higher price point – a turning point for our company.
From there, everything accelerated.
Within one year, we completed more than 20 weddings and 15 additional events, expanded into destination weddings across states like Tennessee, Florida, and South Carolina, and were selected as a sponsor for a major South Asian bridal show, something we once only dreamed about.
Along the way, we developed a signature style rooted in lush florals, refined draping, and luxury details inspired by both South Asian artistry and modern elegance. But what clients mention most is our connection with them: the trust we build, the care we put into each decision, and the way we treat their event as if it were our own family’s celebration.
Looking back, our journey is rooted in more than entrepreneurship.
It’s a story of reinvention, family strength, and the willingness to build a new path when the old one disappears.
Blush Decor is the result of 2 women refusing to let fear make their decisions. Choosing instead to believe in their craft, in their family, and in each other.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Our journey has had its fair share of obstacles.
Event decor in the South Asian wedding industry is saturated with established vendors who already have years of experience, vendor relationships, and large inventories. We were the newcomers with everything to prove. We had to find ways to stand out and be seen by vendors.
In this industry, there is no true blueprint, no guide on how to start an event design company, how to engineer large installations, what linens and draping material to use, where to source specialty florals, or how to find skilled labor you can trust. Much of what we’ve learned didn’t come from manuals, it came from trial, error, and consistently asking for feedback from vendors.
We had to sketch our own blueprint as we went and refined our design process through hands on experience.
I would research the industry while feeding my newborn, respond to clients with a baby on my shoulder, and edit proposals late at night. Finding balance was one of the hardest parts.
We also learned, very quickly, that this industry is physically demanding. There were weekends where we worked 18-hour days, loading trucks in the Georgia heat, climbing ladders, arranging florals for hours, and still needing to greet clients with a smile. In the beginning, we handled everything ourselves – the design, labor, logistics, customer service – until we could expand our team.
And like many small businesses, we experienced moments of doubt. Times when inventory was delayed, when we had to front money we didn’t have or when we questioned whether we could compete with larger decor companies.
Every challenge taught us something. Every mistake pushed us to create better systems. And every success, no matter how small, validated that we were moving in the right direction.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
At Blush Decor we specialize in wedding decor with a strong focus on South Asian celebrations. Our work blends modern elegance with cultural richness – lush florals, refined draping, custom backdrops, Mandaps, and creating an immersive and personal experience for each couple.
But beyond the decor itself, what truly sets us apart is our approach. We are a mother-daughter duo.
2 generations, 2 perspectives, one shared passion. We treat every event like it’s for our own family. We care deeply, we communicate clearly, we listen to what our clients want, and we create with heart.
We are resilient and motivated. Remember that South Asian bridal show I told you about? I was in the ER a few hours before setting up because of a sprained wrist. I drove straight to the show from the ER with a cast on my wrist, at 4AM to setup – the show goes on!
Feedback is very valuable. We also ask for feedback from our clients and vendors – even the ones that don’t book us. This is one of the many ways we learn and grow.
Any big plans?
Looking ahead, our vision for Blush Decor is to continue evolving while staying true to the heart of who we are. We want to grow intentionally; expanding our team, our inventory, and our creative capabilities, while making sure every client still receives the personal experience we’re known for.
We’re also excited to build stronger partnerships within the wedding industry: planners, photographers, venues, MUA’s, and other decorators who share our values. A healthy creative community is important to us, and we look forward to contributing to that in meaningful ways.
But more than anything, we’re looking forward to growing this as a true family business. The idea that one day my son might see what his mother and grandmother built together and maybe even be part of it – keeps us motivated in ways we can’t fully explain.
