Daily Inspiration: Meet Iyana Le’Shea

Today we’d like to introduce you to Iyana Le’Shea.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
First, I want to say this is such a full-circle moment being back on VoyageATL! It’s been six years, so we have lots to catch up on.
I started my journey as a content creator back in 2018 on YouTube, which then expanded to Instagram. My core reason for starting on social media and creating content was the lack of representation of Black women with albinism in the beauty space. This motivated and inspired me to create my own space online for those who look like me.
I initially focused on natural hair content, which later evolved into sharing vlogs and makeup tips. Eventually, I was able to find, build, and grow my Shea Babe community across multiple platforms—YouTube, Instagram, and even TikTok. Putting myself out there online even led to my first acting opportunity in the independent film Jasmine Is a Star, which is about a teenage African American girl with albinism trying to “fit in” while pursuing modeling.
Being a part of such an amazing film still fills my heart with pride and joy! This opportunity reshaped my outlook on life, teaching me not to be afraid of stepping out of my comfort zone. With this new mindset, I eventually decided to apply for the 2022 Sephora Squad for the very first time.
The amount of support I received from my community was astounding. With over 400 testimonials, I made it to the Sephora Squad finals and ultimately became the first Black woman with albinism to be part of the Squad.
Being a part of the Sephora Squad has opened so many doors and contributed immensely to my personal and professional growth. The experience has definitely shaped me into who I am today.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
To be honest, no, I don’t feel it’s been a smooth road. This journey has definitely had its fair share of highs and lows. Something I’ve struggled with is comparing myself to others, dealing with imposter syndrome, and believing I would fail.
Even today, I still face those thoughts sometimes, but I’ve learned that greatness takes time and that everyone’s journey is unique. A quote that really helps me when I start getting in my head is: “What’s for you will be for you, and nothing will keep it from you.”

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a full-time content creator. I create content centered around caring for natural hair, skincare routines, and makeup tutorials and tips. I also share lifestyle content through vlogs, while educating and sharing my experiences living with albinism.
What I’m most proud of is the impact my social media presence has had. I’m proud that I’m able to empower and inspire so many people to feel confident and comfortable in their own skin.
What sets me apart from others is my mindset—knowing that showing up as my full, authentic self is much bigger than me. This is why I go so hard when it comes to positive representation.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Honestly, I’m not completely sure. Content creation is still fairly new and has definitely changed a lot since my first few years in the industry. I would say in the next 5 years AI will definitely play a huge role in the industry,
