Daily Inspiration: Meet Jacoya Pleasant

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jacoya Pleasant

Hi Jacoya, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Hmm How did I start ? So since I was a child I knew that I would be somebody. I’ve always loved clothes, modeling, rapping, acting, really anything that involves getting creative and showcasing my uniqueness.

Fast forward to 2021, when I had my daughter. I went going through postpartum depression really bad. I was always in the house with my both 2 under one children at the time. It was rough on me. One day I woke up and decided I’m not about to keep sitting around letting my dreams and talents go to waste just because I’m a mom. I can do both. I can do everything I want and still take care of my babies. That mindset got me to where I am today and God.

After I said I wasn’t waiting around any longer I got up and started to do something about it. I had my daughter in November. I went to my first Model Boot camp in Atlanta February 2022. Million Dollar Walk really gave me a lot of insight on how this industry is, the do’s and dont’s, posture, poses, etc.

From there I started working on my catwalk, attending more fashion shows, Networking, creating more content, really just putting myself out there.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t been a smooth road.

My parents and my significant other didn’t believe in me and felt like I “needed to be taking care of my kids” I used to always get so upset because its like I can do both. Im more than just Khloe and Kyrie’s mom !

I would say money was probably a struggle as well because you have to invest into your craft.

Having everybody on the same page was definitely a struggle. I had little babies at the time so getting their dads to watch their child while mommy goes out and chase her dreams was very hard. They already didn’t support it .

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a published model, boutique owner, actress, rapper, influencer, and Youtuber. Yeah I know its a lot but honestly they all tie into one another.

I work in the healthcare field, I do locs and I advertise products for companies.

I’m most proud of my Music, YouTube videos, Photoshoots, Movies, Fashion Shows, Really anything that I do that involves me having fun , getting a bag while just being myself.

What sets me apart from others? I see nobody but me. Im authentic. Im fiesty. I’m funny. My light shines bright . I have no hidden agendas, I’m a free spirited person. I could go on and on you would just have to see for yourself. I’m a vibe and you would love it here. Im fun but I’m also about handling business.

How do you think about happiness?
The first time I saw my face in a magazine
Anytime a company reaches out to me about advertising their products
Anytime I see me on a TV screen
Anytime I model in a fashion show or I’m at an event rapping

It makes me happy because it lets me know Im doing my job as PrettyGirlCoya. Im running up a check off talent and just being me so I mean that makes me very happy .
