Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaden Burton.
Hi Jaden, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My story began with me falling in love with music long before I ever became DJ FTP. I started DJing casually at parties and small events, mainly for fun. As I kept going, people reacted strongly to the way I blended genres and controlled the energy in a room. That made me realize I should take it more seriously.
SoundCloud became a major turning point in my journey. I started releasing remixes that gained traction online and built a large audience early on. That momentum opened doors in Toronto’s nightlife scene and also created my first real connection to Atlanta. A lot of my early listeners, collaborators, and supporters were based in Atlanta. The city has always been a cultural center for the type of R&B, trap soul, and bounce influenced music that inspires me. Even before performing there, Atlanta shaped my sound, my visuals, and my overall creative approach.
As time went on, I pushed myself to grow creatively. I got deeper into production, storytelling, and building full visual identities for my releases. This past year has been especially important. I released new music, refined my branding, created stronger visuals, and even opened for Chris Brown in Toronto. I also started focusing on the business side by building digital products and treating DJ FTP like a full creative company.
Today, My FTP brand reflects a mix of Toronto roots and Atlanta influence. It represents the grind of my hometown combined with the culture and energy that Atlanta has always given me. I am still growing and still building independently, but every step has been the result of consistency, vision, and a commitment to my craft.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I had to build everything independently with no team, no industry connections, and very limited resources. Especially coming from a city with the biggest artists in the world but with a large gap between that crowd and the people coming up, my goal was always to bridge that gap. Learning how to produce, promote myself, and grow a brand on my own came with a lot of trial and error. Expanding beyond Toronto and building a presence in places like Atlanta was also challenging without a network. But every setback taught me consistency and resilience, and those lessons are a big part of why I’m here today.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a DJ, producer, and creative known for blending R&B, trap soul, and bounce-influenced sounds with high-energy DJ sets. I release original music, remixes, and visuals that all sit in the same world, and I treat everything I do like a full creative experience rather than just a song or a performance.
I’m probably best known for my remixes on SoundCloud and for the unique transitions and genre blends in my live sets. That online audience helped me build momentum in Toronto and opened the door to bigger shows, including opening for Chris Brown, Druski, Drake and More.
What I’m most proud of is how much I’ve built independently. From visuals to branding to production, I’ve had to learn every part of the process and turn DJ FTP into a full creative brand.
What sets me apart is my ability to merge music, visuals, and storytelling into one cohesive identity. I’m not just spinning records or dropping tracks. I’m building a world around the sound, and that’s what people connect with.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I like best about Atlanta is the creative energy.
The city has a culture that really embraces new sounds, new artists, and new ideas. The music scene is unmatched, especially for R&B, trap soul, and hip-hop. You can order uber eats and your driver is an artist or a manager or just trying to eat in some way. People in Atlanta move with confidence and originality, and that energy always pushes me creatively. Very similar yet very different to Toronto.
What I like least is the traffic. It sounds simple, but anyone who has spent time in Atlanta knows it’s real. Getting around can be tough, especially when you’re going from studio sessions to events alot of things are very far away from eachother versus in Toronto you can find everything you would want to be at within a 20 min drive. But the culture and community definitely make up for it.
