Daily Inspiration: Meet Jaélle Pitts

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaélle Pitts.

Jaélle, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I got my start in music at nine years old, in my father’s home studio in Pittsburgh, PA. At the time, he wouldn’t allow me to touch the expensive equipment, so I’d wait until my family (namely my father) was asleep, and I’d sneak into the studio to make beats. Once he discovered I could handle the equipment, he started to allow me to make my own beats and he would record my vocals.

In the 2000s, we moved to Atlanta, GA, where I learned spanish and began making Reggaeton and producing for local talent. After years producing and writing Reggaeton and Hip-Hop for myself and others, I eventually found that Afrobeats was a perfect balance of the two genres — which led me to study and absorb its culture and merging Afrobeats’ sounds with a little spanish and french language sprinkled in.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
At age ten, the recording stopped after a terrible kitchen fire where my mother almost lost her life. Music making was just no longer a focus and things remained that way until I was fifteen. Later, I’d have a six-year slump where I did nothing creatively after the passing of my second child. I lost my equipment, my home and more until 2020, when a familiar outlet was much needed.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I like to imagine my specialty is writing. Over the years, I’ve worked with different brands/projects like Georgia Pacific, Purple Ribbon All-Stars, Bud Light as well as writing ad copy for local live event companies. However, I’m more known as a host personality at EDM events in Atlanta, GA.

I’m most proud of my hosting experiences and the opportunities it gave me to connect with people and show them a good time at a show. What’s always set me apart in each project is my creativity and speaking spanish fluently. It kind of becomes a parlor trick, regardless of setting.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
My inboxes are always open. I enjoy collaboration and new ideas. Just message me.
