Daily Inspiration: Meet Jamon “JayTek” Perry

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamon “JayTek” Perry.

Hi Jamon “JayTek”, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started DJ’n when I was about 9 years old, and it wasn’t until I was 11 or so, is when I began to call myself a DJ. I found my first pair of turntables in a dumpster, I jumped in the dumpster, pulled them out, and over the next few months my father helped me to fix them. I began to buy records weekly, so that I could become what I dreamed of becoming.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely has not been a smooth road, I had so much to learn, becoming a DJ. It also meant that I was stepping into a world of competitiveness that I was unaware. So I have to overcome, hate, relationships, and people who weren’t hating at all, they just had to compete to be one of the best. As I grew into my craft, I was also growing up, and dealing with the struggles of that, as well as managing popularity. Not many people know what it’s like to go into a new city, “not know anybody”, and your main competitor is the most popular person “breathing” in that city. There were, many many struggles along the way

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a DJ/Personality/Former Radio Executive who specializes in “PEOPLE”. I am know for many things, like being a great DJ, Producer, and Radio Executive/Leader. I am most proud of my career, and seeds that I sewed into people. I had great teachers, and to be able to pass that info along and watch other people, use that information to accomplish their dreams, will forever sit well with me. What sets me apart from others, is the fact that I was always willing to invest in to the people who were doing the job and the people who were coming up behind them. The radio world now, is lacking engagement for two reasons, the refusal invest in “Culture”, and “Gatekeeping”.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
Regardless of your business or career field you are in, always invest in “People” A.I. is the new thing taking over many areas, but people add feeling to your product, and culture to your product. Keep investing in people.
