Today we’d like to introduce you to Jared Foster
Hi Jared, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am Jared Foster aka J Paul The Carpenter. From the hustling streets of Dallas, Texas, to the creative hub of Atlanta, Georgia, I’ve reinvented myself in the most extraordinary way.
Imagine this: a singer, songwriter, and vocal artist who set out on a two-year tour with the incredible artist Lecrae, creating music that earned us a Grammy nomination for our hit song “All I Need Is You.” Little did I know that this exhilarating experience would become the catalyst for my next great adventure.
Enter the world of woodworking, where I honed my skills and acquired knowledge from building military airplanes like the Gulf Stream 4&5, the legendary Black Hawk Helicopter, the mighty C17, the stealthy Global Hawk spy plane, and even various Boeing aircraft. These experiences transformed me into one of the most innovative and imaginative builders in Atlanta, the city where creativity thrives.
But that’s not all! The who’s who of the celebrity world sought out my craftsmanship. Rapper T.I. and his fabulous wife Tiny Harris entrusted me with the task of creating not one, but two California King-size day bed swings. The incredibly talented T-Pain had me design a moveable studio booth fit for a musical genius. And basketball star Lou Williams? Well, let’s just say I crafted a studio desk that matches his soaring success. The list of awe-inspiring projects goes on and on.
As my reputation grew, so did my partnerships with influential companies like Home Depot, Kilz primer, and Behr Paint. And now, I proudly carry the sponsorship of the esteemed Timberland Pro, a testament to my craft and creativity.
Thanks to these remarkable alliances, I’ve become the face of Kilz primer in their captivating YouTube series, “Destination Restoration.” Together, we breathe new life into spaces and inspire countless others to embrace the transformative power of creativity.
So, get ready to be enthralled as Jared Foster, a.k.a. J Paul The Carpenter, takes center stage. From the melodies of music to the symphony of woodworking, my journey continues to unfold, leaving a trail of awe-inspiring creations in its wake. Stay tuned for more extraordinary tales of innovation, influence, and the magic of making dreams come true!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The hardest thing for me has been balancing being a creative with the demands of running a business, to be honest. It’s challenging to send quotes, get the work done, coordinate teams, and keep everyone happy all at once. I genuinely love being an artist and focusing on the creative side of things. Don’t get me wrong—I get it all done, but it’s tough to juggle everything. I’m looking to hire someone for that responsibility soon.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
What sets me apart is my creativity. Although I did the swings for T.I. and Tiny over three years ago, those swings showcased just how creative I could be. Taking something as simple as daybed swings and adding an expensive flare demonstrated my skills. The LED lights, the design work, the color choices to match the house—everything was done to fit their aesthetic and personality. In my humble opinion, that project really highlighted what I bring to the table.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
One of the books that’s been instrumental for me lately is *In A World Like This*, written by my mom. It addresses dealing with anxiety and explores what the Bible says about it. This has been particularly beneficial for me because I often feel anxious managing the various aspects of my business. Balancing creativity with business responsibilities can be challenging, and having a resource that reminds me to turn to Jesus and the Bible for guidance has been extremely helpful
