Daily Inspiration: Meet Jason Carey

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Carey.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
First of all thank you for having me, have to start with the appreciation (laughs). I started pursuing FM radio years ago, fresh into my career as an entertainer as another way to get heard, seen, and connect with new fans. When I applied doors were shut, they said I had the talent, the brand, could do it BUT I didn’t have any experience… Well the hustler in me wouldn’t allow THAT to go down. So I said, “aiight cool, I’ll be back!” Right after that, I was approached with the idea of doing some internet radio, which was perfect timing. I figured I could learn what I don’t know about producing radio shows, study some of my peers, learn equipment, develop air checks and get the “experience” they said I needed. Three years in, I have tons of experience, shows, podcast, artist and celebrity interviews under my belt. I’m ready to go back at FM!!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
When you are attempting to trailblaze and color outside the lines, nothing is smooth [slight chuckle]. So a few things happen, a big shift from FM talk radio to Podcast popularity happen so I had to figure that out and make that leap. Radio is still relevant so I kept the door open and worked my brand on social media. Was added to Radio Nation DJs family with some of the countries top personalities. Then one day, I received a DM from a program director to come in. I got a chance to do a very short stint at an upstart R&B FM Station in Atlanta. I’m like I made it, I manifested my opportunity, Was pretty proud of the path I cut for myself being relentless! But soon as I got started, they had to shut it down. I have to be honest, I was a little discouraged and wondered what God was trying to tell me. Fast forward to a few years ago, I got back on the horse with the Morning Coffee Swig Morning Show, Minds of Mischief “Mischievous Podcast” and Running The Point w/Jason Carey on the ATL Podcast Network and now I’m on 93.9 Power Hitz Weekly with my new “Wild 4 The Night” Radio show!!! So I turned my struggles into more motivation.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m an award-winning Emcee/Host some might say “The Best MC You Ever Would See” and I’m an Actor. You may see me on TV in the Southeast Region or hear me on the radio in the 770-Get Paid ads as the Super Fan Spokesperson “Tony”. Recently was in a Horror Feature “No Reason” directed by Carla Saunders. I’m most proud of my ability to create opportunities for myself and others around me. I see the openings in smaller opportunities. I feel like I specialize in maximizing the smaller opportunities. I stay in relentless pursuit of my own personal greatness. I think everyone should, so I hope I can inspire people to do so. I get texts, calls and inboxes about how I motivate others. I’m very proud of that, and heck…I need that!!! It keeps me going to know people are watching and it’s making an impact in their lives.

How do you define success?
Well, that’s a question I continue to ask myself! The top gets further, the higher I climb. I embrace the journey because soon as I complete one goal, I always feel like, well that wasn’t that bad…let’s keep going. So overall, I’m happy I pretty much live the life I want to love everyday and I didn’t when I worked in corporate America. So for me to have done this for over a decade, I feel like I’m wildly successful. Now I just want more. Let’s see what I can build in the next decade.
