Daily Inspiration: Meet Jason Castro

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Castro.

Hi Jason, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My story, I believe all started in the beautiful city of Miami Beach, FL. Growing up in South Florida, my parents had always encouraged me and my sister to think outside the box and be creative and different. Growing up on the baseball field is where I spent most of my childhood. Playing the sport since five years old certainly taught me to be a team player and taught me leadership. It was during my high school years I found my creative eye, learning to design computer graphics and web design and enjoying shooting photography and videography. I started a side hustle at the early age of 18 designing business cards and websites for friends and neighbors. After graduating high school and landing a baseball scholarship, I was first in my family to attend college full-time. I was honored and excited to learn and head into the real world. Attending college back in the 2000’s – 2001 and in the heart of the super busy and up and coming design district of Downtown Miami, FL, it just furthered my love and passion for creative design and visual communications. In 2002, I started attending design school in Ft. Lauderdale, FL and graduated in 2003 with an Associates Degree in Computer Graphic Design. I fell in love with photography and videography and decided to move up north to Atlanta, GA at the age of 23 and explore the possibilities Atlanta had to offer. I have been freelancing and running my successful side hustle offering my photography and videography services in Atlanta, Metro Atlanta and other states now since 2006. I still do hold my 9-5er and proud to say today I am a father of 6 and a loving husband.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Smooth road, it has not been, to be where I am today. I have encountered many obstacles and challenges to have the beautiful family, business and network I have today. Becoming a parent at such a young age in Atlanta back in 2003 was a challenge and struggle. Many times I had to push through tough times financially and provide for my family to stay a float. After going through a divorce, I had to revamp my life and business strategies as a freelancer. With having faith, leaning towards the lords guidance, and giving my life to Jesus, I have to stay today I am super blessed to be where I am, all thanks to swiping right and meeting such a loving, beautiful, wonderful woman I am honored to call my wife today, Susette. Smooth road, it has not been.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am proud to say I do call myself an artist/creative. I specialize in photography, videography, mobile and drone aerial filming, and social media content creating. With the era we are in today and going into tomorrow, being a part of the social media world since its beginning stages back in the early 2000’s, my knowledge, love and passion for creating social media content is by far a serious passion of mine I have, to grow and continue creating. I offer brands, companies or a single person stunning content creation they can share to the world, friends, followers and family. Today, the film and drone aerial visuals is taking creative design in almost every industry by storm. I feel what sets me apart from others offering the same services is years of experience and knowledge and certainly my vision and drive. Though I may be 41, I’m a kid or young 20 yr old at heart, with a dream of becoming great in my niche and industry.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Would probably have to say seeing and walking into Walt Disney World for the first time.
