Daily Inspiration: Meet Jayden Olmeda

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jayden Olmeda.

Hi Jayden , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
When I was 16 I got fired from Wendy’s . I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life , coming from a troubled pass I knew I had to do something so I became a welder . I looked up on good weld shops near me and the first person I called answered. I told him I will work for free and I just wanted to learn a trade . I fell in love with the trades ever since
Lucky for me he wasn’t only a welder . He was a master mechanic . A industrial maintenance man . And he taught me all I know . His name is Bobby Callaway and he’s the reason i am the man I am today

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Growing up without a dad always had an effect on me . Having no positive male influence in my life had me lost as a youth growing up in a domestic violence household at the age of 17 I was kicked out for protecting my mom as she chose a man over me . Not having anywhere to go I slept in a gym for a week showing in a sink sleeping on the gym bench . During this time I got addicted to opioids. I started taking pills to numb my trauma and before I knew it I was addicted to. I ended up moving with my aunt and kept abusing drugs . I went temporarily paralyzed in the right side of my body during this time from falling out on drugs .

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a diesel mechanic who specializes in all type of engine and body repairs . Working on equipment , dump trucks and tractor trailers , I’m known for my personality in my community being the man who try’s to help others . Something im most proud of it overcoming all I’ve been through and still coming out on top .

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
In the next 5-10 years i think it’s going to be a big change in the industry. With AI and electronics taking over the world . Everything will get a lot harder to work on . But as a man I believe we must be able to adapt to all circumstances. So I’ll be ready
