Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I stared working as a barber since i was 22 years old, I moved to New York City in 2004 with 6 years experience.
Then, I moved to the State of Georgia in 2012 and continued working as a barber as well. After I was working for 2 years in that barbershop I became associated of the 50% of the Barbershop and spend 9 years there. In 2021 I sold my 50% part of the Barbershop. I decide to start looking for a place to open my own Barbershop. After seem about 30 local/suite. I finally found the perfect place for me. I started doing the paper work to rent it. After two years of negociatión the comercial center was sold to another Company. I lost my hope to get the place, I forgot about that place and continuo looking for more places
6 Month after that new company contact my inmobiliary company and told me that they were interest of rent me place i wanted from the beginning
January 2024 I opened Rafa Dominican babershop
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I spend a lot time looking for a place because Every time I find a place there was a salón or another Barbershop there that is i qas not able to rent it.
Another obstacles that i found was that i got a Good place but the owner only offer me 4 parking lot for me and that clients so i had to Said no to that one too
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Im a baber with more than 15 years of experiance
I specialize myself as profesional baber
I feel so proud of my coworkers because they make a Great team
What make me diferent from others barbershop is that my bussiness is a familiar place because mom can bring their kids and they will not even hear a bad Words or loud Music baber screaming to each other and they will most important is the you will find a clean place with great hygiene
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I have had many risk one of then is that in the área where im located there is many other babershops
Another one is that i do not open on sundays and i know that others barber do open
