Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaylah Spencer.
Kaylah, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My junior year at Clark Atlanta university, I decided to take a lash class to start making money while studying to obtain my bachelor’s in Public Relations.
While balancing college life, good grades, internships & many naps, I fell in love with the process of adding to one’s natural beauty, and it was important to me to perfect my craft. I would ask every family member & friend if I could do their lashes. I got myself & my business out there through networking as a waitress & a junior publicist at various events. Eventually, the time came to focus more on being a lash artist as my clientele grew rapidly through word of mouth/referrals.
I tried to drop out of Clark Atlanta to go to beauty school (which was a dream of mine) but I was encouraged to finish out my degree. I’ve always wanted to be a part of the beauty industry since a little girl!
By the time I graduated, I had a steady clientele and was a part-time lash artist. Through the years I’ve learned many lessons and I still am. I’m no longer treating it as a side hustle but it’s actually a brand I’m building into a business empire. It excites me every day to work towards building my brand.
As a now, full-time lash artist, I am very excited to see what & how my brand and myself grows!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Some obstacles I’ve struggled with across the way would be not keeping up with trends and not having the best time & money management. I think it’s very important to practice timelines, budgeting, saving, and maintaining great credit because all of these will be very important in the long run as your business grows. It’s important to keep up with trends because that’s the type of time period we’re in & it plays a big role in marketing.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in Classic, volume, and hybrid lash extensions. I offer versatility to consumers who like to pamper themselves & enhance their natural beauty.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
I’m always open to collaborating with other lash artists and beauty professionals. They can contact me via email at sybariticspike@gmail.com or message me on any social media platform.
