Daily Inspiration: Meet Kevin Burt

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kevin Burt.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My interest in Photography developed from my love of visual art and music. I am an artist by nature and my main craft is music and songwriting. So how does this tie in with photography? It actually goes hand in hand. With me being artistic, I can easily gain a vision of what I would like to see/hear. The same goes for music. Before I became an entrepreneur, I was working in the food industry (which is also art). Suddenly there’s an illness called COVID-19. I was laid off from my serving job at the Airport (which was my highest-paying job at the moment) and made the leap of faith to start my own business. I purchased my camera and the rest is history. Since then, I have been continuing to pursuit all of my artistic goals, patiently waiting for the day that I can profit off of everything that I love to do.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The largest obstacle I have faced that was not self-inflicted would be the art of marketing and promotion. There are a few tools that I have used to spread my business across the state. Although it can sometimes be challenging to budget for all of the necessary marketing I may need to stay consistent. Other self-inflicting obstacles I have faced are due to me being more excited and anxious rather than knowledgeable and patient. Causing some setbacks in my progression.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a artist by nature, meaning almost everything I am naturally good at is art related. I am mostly known for being a music recording artist, specializing in Hip-Hop but very versatile. I produce my own music and I also am able to engineer myself if need be (I’ve recorded at home for the majority of my journey). I also am a graphic designer and I have designed all of my album covers. I design clothes and have a clothing line by the name of Lawless Society, Law. So for short. This is also the name of my creative movement. I feel like what makes me different from most is that I don’t back down from any challenge and if I have a vision, I won’t stop until I bring that vision to life.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My struggles and obstacles deserve credit, my mother deserves credit for continuing to educate me and place me in long-term – winning situations. My mother is a teacher, so you can imagine how beneficial that has been to my craft. I must give credit to my lifelong friends who were the first people to tell me I was “different” in this way of music. And as of late I really have to give credit to my wife for supporting me and understanding my vision.
