Daily Inspiration: Meet KHADIRAH JOHNSON

Today we’d like to introduce you to KHADIRAH JOHNSON.

Hi KHADIRAH, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I am originally from Brooklyn, New York but I am now proud to call Georgia my home, where I’ve embraced the creative energy and culture that inspire my work every day. I moved to Georgia with my family in my adolescent years, and when I turned 18, I made the decision to head back up North to attend Long Island University’s Brooklyn campus. However, financial challenges led me to leave before completing my degree. Returning to Georgia, I jumped into the workforce, taking on various jobs over the years. In my twenties, I dabbled in modeling, but it wasn’t until I was about 25 that I picked up a camera for the first time. I started capturing the world around me—photographing parks, buildings, and street scenes. But my true passion emerged when I began photographing people, and that’s how I found my way into portrait photography, which is where I am today.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I would be lying if I said there haven’t been challenges along the way. There have been moments of doubt, where I questioned if this is the path I truly want to pursue. Learning the technical aspects—like mastering camera controls and editing software—hasn’t always been easy, and finding people to photograph can be a struggle at times. Then, there are the sleepless nights spent editing, all while balancing school and work. Lately, I’ve been contemplating whether focusing on a specific niche in photography might help me refine my vision and approach.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am an aspiring portrait photographer based in Lawrenceville, Georgia. I’m the owner and creator behind KDSnapped on Instagram and TikTok. My journey into photography began three years ago. I took classes at The Atlanta School of Photography where I learned the basic principles and foundation of photography and it quickly turned into a true passion. In my early twenties, I enjoyed being in front of the camera as a model, but it didn’t take long for me to realize that my true calling was behind the lens, capturing the moments that tell stories. For me, photography is about more than just taking pictures—it’s about preserving emotions and experiences, encapsulating the essence of a moment.

The path to where I am today has been filled with discovery, from mastering camera settings to perfecting my editing techniques. Each day brings a new opportunity to learn and grow, and I’m excited to continue evolving in this art form.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
A lot of people don’t realize that I’m actually quite introverted. I like to describe myself as an “introverted extrovert.” When I first meet someone, I tend to be shy and reserved, keeping to myself. But once I feel comfortable and get to know someone, my true personality shines through. I’m super sweet and nice, goofy, fun-loving, and I enjoy making people feel at ease. I really thrive when I’m surrounded by good vibes, and I love it when people appreciate me for who I truly am.
