Daily Inspiration: Meet Kiera Baity

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kiera Baity.

Hi Kiera, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve always had a thing for themed events — I love when every detail aligns cohesively to bring a vision to life. My journey started while organizing poetry events with a writers’ collective I was part of, where I discovered how much joy I found in creating atmospheres that matched the theme.

Later, as an art teacher, one of my colleagues asked me to help plan a retirement party for another teacher. That was the first time I learned about balloon pumps and garlands — and I instantly became fascinated. After that, I coordinated my mom’s birthday party from start to finish, which gave me the confidence to start hosting my own events, from summer gatherings to Halloween parties.

Over time, I realized I didn’t want to be an event coordinator — I wanted to focus on transforming spaces. So, I began teaching myself balloon design through “YouTube University,” learning different arch styles, investing in my own inventory, and practicing my skills at home. I started sharing my work on social media, and that’s how The Ki to Your Party was born — a creative outlet that lets me merge my love for art, design, and themed storytelling through décor.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. Once I figured out my niche in the decorating world, I had to do a lot of research, learning, and hands-on practice. In the beginning, most of the setups I created were funded out of my own pocket — from my mom’s birthday party in March 2024 all the way to January 2025. I got my first official client in February for a Sweet 16 through my boyfriend’s cousin, who’s a caterer. That experience pushed me to figure out my pricing, define my services, and understand the true value of my work.

After that, I started getting small gigs here and there through her referrals, but they were spaced out. I had a lot of slow months with no bookings, which was tough and sometimes discouraging. Even now, being in business for about a year and a half, I still experience slow seasons. But those moments have taught me to stay consistent and keep investing in my business — whether it’s building my inventory, improving my craft, or promoting my work — so I can maintain momentum and keep growing.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m an artist who specializes in several creative areas — I’m a writer, painter, art teacher, and event decorator. I’m best known for my event decorating business, The Ki to Your Party (because you can’t have a party without Ki [pronounced key]! 😂). Through my business, I provide event décor for birthdays, baby showers, graduations, corporate events, holiday parties, and more — bringing each client’s vision to life through cohesive themes and bold, memorable details.

I’m most proud of being able to truly live an art-filled life — teaching art by day, writing my memoir, and creating unforgettable moments for others through event design. Every part of my work allows me to express creativity in a different form, and that’s a blessing I don’t take lightly.

What sets me apart is my ability to merge artistic storytelling with visual design — I approach every event and project like a living canvas. My goal isn’t just to decorate a space, but to create an atmosphere that feels intentional, emotional, and unforgettable.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
YouTube University is my source of inspiration and continued learning! I tend to watch vlogs of other event decorators and how they put together their installations — it helps me refine my own techniques for balloon design, color balance, and client presentation. I also follow creators who share tips that feed into my other creative abilities like art and writing, keeping me inspired across all areas of my craft.
