Daily Inspiration: Meet Kirby Guerrero

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kirby Guerrero.

Hi Kirby, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my business my first semester of my freshman year of college (August 2020). I had always dreamed and planned to start a stationary business when I retired, but I decided why wait! My grandmothers have always been my muse and both of them send me letters quite often, which I think helped develop my love of mail and letters. I like to say I’m in the business of encouragement because that’s what letters are all about, encouraging others.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The biggest bumps have really been doubting myself and comparing my art too much to others. It’s also been challenging running it through social media because I have never really been a social media person and that’s a huge learning curve.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I make cards! All the cards feature my art on the front. I’m brainstorming to expand my product line but I specialize in cards. My cards have a very distinct flare of me with their colors and style. I am known for simplicity and encouragement. I am most proud of the way my art is being used to do good. When I started my business, I always explained I had a simple purpose, to be simply good.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I was very social, determined, and strong-willed, my parents would probably say stubborn. I was really interested in school and learning. When I wasn’t at school, I’d be making my nanny assign me homework or playing school with my neighbors. I also started actually make cards from a young age. My grandmother has been holding on to them for years, saying they will be worth lots one day but that they are already priceless to her.

Pricing:

  • My printed cards are $2.00 and included the cutest envelope!
  • My hand painted cards are $3-5 and also include the cutest envelope!
