Daily Inspiration: Meet Kris ‘with A Kay’ Rodgers

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kris ‘with A Kay’ Rodgers.

Hi Kris ‘with a Kay’, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Back in 2009, I was just a mom with a mission—to create unforgettable celebrations for my two kids, Kaylen and Di’Juan. I loved the joy on their faces when a theme came together, the way every color and balloon told a story. What started as small family parties soon turned into something bigger as friends and family began asking me to plan their own events.

That’s how KayDi’s Events was born—named after my two greatest inspirations, Kaylen and Di’Juan.

Since the very beginning and still today, every event is a learning experience: how to manage vendors, create budgets, design layouts, and most importantly, how to make people feel. What began as a creative outlet quickly became a calling.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not. My journey has been full of pivots, prayers, and perseverance. I’ve had to re-strategize countless times—navigating personal life, raising children, balancing marriage, maintaining employment, and even relocating cities. Every season required a new version of me to step up and figure it out.

The biggest challenge came when I decided to turn KayDi’s Events into a full-time business. For years, it was just me—handling every detail from client consultations to setup and teardown. It was rewarding but exhausting. Eventually, I realized that to grow, I needed to build a team, create systems, and develop a steady stream of events to keep the business sustainable.

Now, looking back, those hard seasons were necessary. They pushed me to grow not just as a planner, but as a leader.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
At my core, I’m a creator of experiences. I specialize in coordinating, designing, and managing events that feel intentional, personal, and unforgettable—whether it’s a birthday, grand opening, corporate mixer, or creative brand activation.

Through KayDi’s Events, I handle everything from concept to clean-up—connecting the right vendors, visuals, and energy to make each celebration seamless. But my work extends beyond events. As the owner of Kris with a Kay Consulting, I also help entrepreneurs and creatives bring their ideas to life—developing brands, organizing launches, and building the systems that turn visions into results.

What I’m most known for is bringing order to chaos. Clients often say I have a calm presence in the middle of the storm. I take pride in making even the most complex events feel effortless. I’m hands-on, detail-driven, and fully invested in bringing my clients’ visions to life with style and precision.

I’m most proud of the growth—both mine and the company’s. From planning birthday parties in my living room to leading a team that produces large-scale events and community experiences, the journey has been both humbling and empowering.

KayDi’s Events isn’t just a business—it’s a reflection of my story as a woman, wife, mother, sister and creative. It’s proof that consistency and passion can build something beautiful. I’m proud that I’ve been able to merge creativity with strategy, and heart with structure.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
The balance between creativity, structure, and customer service. My background in computer science and project management allows me to bring order and organization to the creative process, while my passion for people ensures every detail feels personal.

I don’t just plan events—I tell stories through experiences. Each event reflects the heart of the client, whether it’s a couple celebrating love, a brand launching its vision, or a community coming together for something bigger.

My approach is intentional: plan with purpose, execute with excellence, and create safe, joyful spaces that let people celebrate themselves — in ways as unique as they are.
