Today we’d like to introduce you to Larney Sayasean.
Hi larney, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I got started in the summer of 2017. At the time I was a Jr accountant who was looking for a way to get out of my desk and into the automotive industry and work with my hands. I came across multiple Youtube videos about detailers who were making a living doing detailing and some even thriving doing something called paint correction and ceramic coating. This was my first introduction into this craft of detailing and I was all in! The only thing is, there were no major known schools of detailing or specifically paint correction classes that were known to me at the time. So I did what I knew and just purchases a small dual action polisher and started experimenting with products, pads and techniques. Later I got an opportunity to work at a dedicated ceramic coating and paint correction shop in Marietta, Ga and earned my stripes. for a whole year all I did was wash, decontaminate, paint correct and apply ceramic coatings. Armed with this new found experience I launched my own paint correction studio and almost nine years later I’m still working, learning and getting better at my craft.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been a bumpy road for sure! not everything goes the way you want it to and you just end up learning more about yourself and what it takes to be a business owner. Personally when I first started I thought that the most important thing was to be a good detailer and that this skill alone will get me to a place where everyone is lining up to come and get detailed by me. I was so wrong! It takes a hundred different skills that need development and realization to even come close to being remotely successful. Broad words like marketing get thrown around and I used to think, that meant just being on camera or run ads. It is that but its also so much more! It’s learning how the sales process work, how the lead generation works, how to talk to customers, how advertising fits in to the whole grand scheme of marketing. This is on top of understanding the business structure and how to manage my own time with myself, my work, and my time with my family looking at it now it was all a struggle, I feel like the only thing that wasn’t a struggle was the desire to grow and get to where I wanted to be.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
So what I do is what the auto detailing industry calls paint correction and ceramic coating. I specialize in paint correction and I’m known for restoring the outer appearance of cars without the need for a repainting. Im most proud of the fact that I’m still in it learning every day and still chasing this dream of being independent and getting the privilege to do the thing I still love doing. Realistically the only thing that sets me apart from everyone else is my own personal journey and how I view the industry today. I try to be as candid about my thoughts around paint protection and how we decide to go about protecting our investments. personally I choose ceramic coating over paint protection film because there are small nuances in paint protection film that I just don’t like. My eyes are accustomed to see clear raw paint and paint that is covered with an invisible wrap is definitely more protected but it also takes away from the real shine and gloss of raw paint. If I had to choose I’d pick raw paint over covered paint.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love the diversity! Atlanta is a melting pot of different culture and sub cultures and for the most part it feels undiscovered and left alone although changes do happen over time Atlanta is always maintaining its Southern hospitality and the people that live here know what its like to be hospitable. I hate the humid temperatures in the south east! if some how the humidity could just go away outside activity would be amazing!
