Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Jai.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Many people know me as “It’s ya girl Lauren”. I am an up and coming entertainer. I specialize in hosting events, writing personalized raps for clients, performing and keeping the audience hype!
At an early age, I would put on a beat and freestyle or write rhymes in my journal. I discovered my passion for rapping and performing on stage specifically when I was selected to be in the end of the school year talent show in elementary.
I was born and raised in Georgia. I combine the spirit of the south with a hip hop flare while adding some of my own unique energy and so far, it has been a successful combination. I am also a social media enthusiast and enjoy vlogging my journey and showing my quirky side on YouTube.
I consider myself an entertainer as I also model, act, and play the piano. I have learned that versatility, being creative and being able to see the beauty of things along my journey enables me to make music that resonates with people. In acting, I enjoy looking at situations from different perspectives and bringing characters to life. That is very similar to rapping in that my performance brings the lyrics and message to life allowing people to have fun, dance and celebrate. Throughout this journey, I have not only grown in many pathways but as an overall person as well. I have gained experience in a variety of different ways. I am grateful for this path and each opportunity it has brought me. I got to where I am today by surrounding myself with the people I love, promoting my talent, and never giving up.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Throughout my journey so far, I have faced some challenges and obstacles. I had to ensure that I surrounded myself with people who understood my vision. It is important to have industry professionals in my circle that do not want to change my style but instead bring added value. At times, it was difficult to find the right music engineer, videographer, dancers and team members.
Additionally, it can be challenging guaranteeing the shows and events that I host or perform match the music I create and image I choose to uphold. As an entertainer, I have to maintain the integrity of my work and vision. Even though I have had a few obstacles, I did not let them stop me. I always kept and still continue to keep a positive mindset because I know I can accomplish anything I put my mind to.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in rapping, hosting events, writing personalized raps and keeping a crowd hype. I am known for making music that everyone can enjoy and filling a room with positive energy. I have accomplished many things and checked quite a few goals off my bucket list including producing studio-recorded music, performing original music pieces, and inspiring others to never give up and follow their dreams.
What sets me apart from others is that I am a female teen artist who writes and performs self-written raps that are clean and upbeat. My music can get a crowd on their feet and have fun while still being relatable and appropriate for all ages. I am a bright light that shines on anything in front of me and I always strive for greatness in everything I do.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Rapping has always been my passion since I was a little girl. It is a way I express myself and connect with people through my relatable lyrics. In the music industry within these next years, I plan to grow my platform. I see myself collaborating with other artists and continuing to release music. I would like to expand my path in the music industry by not only creating music for myself but for others through songwriting. Along with my love for music and writing, I enjoy working behind the scenes whether that is directing, filming, or editing and I would love the opportunity to do so on a professional basis.
Outside of the music industry within the next few years, I plan to go to college and graduate from an HBCU. While doing this, I will continue building my network, gaining exposure and advancing my career. I document my journey by vlogging and posting on my YouTube channel as well. With this being said, I enjoy what I do and I am excited to see what the future has in store for me.
