Today we’d like to introduce you to Lawrence Nalls
Hi Lawrence, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My name is Lawrence Michael Nalls III from Chicago Illinois, and football has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. My dad and I spent countless hours studying the game, and it’s shaped me into the disciplined and focused person I am today. But as much as I love football, I’ve always wanted to be more than just an athlete.
Starting in my freshman year, I began exploring creative outlets like content creation, photography, and partnerships. These pursuits helped me build an identity outside of sports, allowing me to express my creativity and connect with others in new ways.
Balancing these passions with the demands of being a student-athlete has been challenging, but it’s a challenge I embrace. As a sophomore majoring in Psychology, I’m fascinated by the mental side of performance, both on and off the field.
I’m excited about the future—whether it’s on the field in games like our upcoming matchup against Kentucky State in Chicago, or off the field, where I continue to grow creatively and academically. I’m committed to making the most of every opportunity that comes my way.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Creating ideas and finding ways to be different. In this day and age it feels like every idea has been taken already
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
What makes me different is that I’ve always been determined to be more than just an athlete. Football has been a huge part of my life since I was a kid—I’ve spent countless hours with my dad studying the game, training, and preparing myself mentally and physically. But from early on, I knew I didn’t want to be defined by football alone.
In my freshman year, I started exploring creative outlets like content creation, photography, and forming partnerships. For me, it was important to express myself outside of sports and to build an identity that’s not just about what I do on the field. I’m proud of how I’ve been able to balance these passions with the demands of being a student-athlete.
What sets me apart is that I’m not afraid to break the mold and step outside the usual expectations. I’m driven to challenge the idea that athletes should only focus on their sport. I’m creating a path that combines my love for football with my creative instincts, and that’s what makes me unique. I want people to see all sides of me, not just the athlete, but also the creative, the thinker, and the person who’s constantly striving to grow in multiple areas of life.
