Today we’d like to introduce you to Loredana Iacovelli.
Hi Loredana, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I have always had an itch to release pent-up creative energy within my brain and bones out into the world. Whether it was in a way of performing or creating some sort of visual art, it was instilled in me before birth. My mother, she recognized this characteristic of mine and nurtured it. Which is when I started taking on musical instruments alongside my theater and vocal training. The distance of where my teachers were was not a factor of my mother backing down to feed my soul and my talents; and from that moment on it was my responsibility to continue my artistic growth.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Society does not allow it to be a smooth road. My whole life and my whole existence, I have been rejected by society, but it has only taught me to reject society right back and that is the only way to freely live.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
The work I create is not “smooth” in an emotional sense, it is rough and rigid, at times, even making me uncomfortable. That is the point, it should shake you to wake up and create a different perspective within you. I strive to constantly blend and fuse different genres of music together along with different mediums when it comes to visual art. My work is experimentational and I abide by that.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Allowing there to be a balance between reconditioning myself yet welcoming my younger self to peak through. It truly is all about self-acceptance and acknowledging who you were and who you are now.
