Daily Inspiration: Meet Mahogany Lovee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mahogany Lovee.

Hi Mahogany, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Hello, my name is La Shara “Mahogany Lovee” Daniel and I reside in Chattanooga, TN. How I got into this world is when I got down on my last leg and met two friends who introduced me to a life that was a gift and a curse. I was working at the waffle house and also hitting the freeway every other day working as a dancer in Atlanta and a really big party girl hanging out with my friends. Riley’s show bar, Club wax, Blaze, Babes, Follies… pretty sure I’m forgetting some underground/after hr spots and the places I gogo danced at as needed bottle girl, and promoter….you get the drift. I touched and saw the most money from the age of 19& a half -22 & a half. But of course, it was a downside to everything.

I was tired and never had a moment to sit down. In the midst of that and meeting amazing people who I’m friends with now, I ran into a guy who looks for extras for video shoots. I was at the bar ” on the clock” minding my business he walks up to me and say ” you are not like these other girls in here, come to this address and this day & time and I promise you this will be your last night here”. Sure enough, it was; I was in the background of many artists’ backgrounds and was getting paid well too. Of course, I met a guy in this process and decided to move away from the Atlanta life and moved to Chattanooga, TN, and here I am now.

I met people in that timeframe to aid me in modeling because I knew I didn’t want to be hidden; I was used to being seen. It even got to the point I was put on to audition for America’s Next Top Model. I didn’t go because I didn’t feel support enough from the ones that mattered most to me and even were told ” Modeling is stupid, it’s no real thing or money in it and besides you are too dark”. That didn’t stop me at all tho. While pursuing this dream, there’s been countless amount of people who have tried to pull me down and even cast doubts on me along with false gossip.

There have been times when I’ve been so low that I want to give up on this modeling because ” I was just the little ole stripper girl”. I meet someone who was a part of a company named GEI Models. I joined them in 2015 and it’s 2022 and they still support me in every way possible. Since then not only I have grown a passion to help others who have the same doubts as me, I wanted to be the one to show up and show out as MAHOGANY LOVEE THE LOC DARK SKIN MODEL.  I thank god for putting me thru everything I have been thru personally and in business (including the mean girl like antics online) -like because I wouldn’t be strong or who I am today. Multifaceted, mom, model, and social supportive for myself & others.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Nothing in life is easy nor was made to not have barriers and challenges besides what was mentioned above this road hasn’t been easy. I’ve lost money, photographers standing me up, not being taken seriously, had my name tarnished & put in places that I’ve never seen or heard of. Also while dealing with and overcoming verbal, mental, and physical abuse. I also have been battling the ups and downs of my grandfather who was my father figure passed away Jan 3rd 2022 and have the fortunate chance of creating life.

I was pregnant with identical twin boys; Cooper & Cordell and had them at 23 weeks & 5 days; no real reason to why I went into early labor and having twins this early is not common-no matter what I was told. My sweetest & spiritually connected baby B Cordell didn’t make it but my handsome, lively, strong, and loving Baby A Cooper survived and did 5 & a half months in the NICU and he is home thriving. The current struggle is batting with grief, post-Patrum depression, anxiety, and also of self-doubts. I have overcome a lot of things in my life but I know this takes time to process and heal. I have overcame with this going on, modeling still has a calling for me; on & off the screen.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I have eleven years of modeling experience (on and off). With a wide variety of clientele and campaigns & outside of the runway, I am a good spokesperson and have a great personality. I am considered easy to work with and can enthusiastically promote any product. If I’m not at work, I am spending the majority of my time working on perfecting my craft, giving my all to my son cooper, brand ambassador for Savage Boujie, Crown Full Of Locs, iam oshaun, multi-positional for B.Rose House of Enchantment, as a needed model for Mississippi elegance and my small businesses-Tour Of Mahogany (Skin Care and Cosmetics)and Mahoganý Lovee & Services (Business cards, virtual assistant, and more).

I’m always promoting products, events, and advertisements via person and social media for over seven years, and I know that my attitude and personality can allow people to try something that may be new to their brand. I’ve always been capable of the versatility of looks and styles and I feel that I bring good vibes, an upbeat personality, and dedication to any product I am promoting, my modeling, and my business.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I grew up in a small town -Rome, GA I always knew it was more out in the world for me versus what was being presented. As a child, I was always picked on for my dark skin complexion. Never knew why when I was never the only one in my classes with the same complexion as mine. I got picked on and “roasted” about up till high school.

Blackie, burnt biscuit, darkie, tar. Any negative thing you could say to a dark skin lady, I was called that and then some till I met someone at my job -Bojangles when I was a teen. She told me every day in the drive-thru” you are pretty, dark, and beautiful, and don’t let anybody tell you differently”. Thanks to her I truly wouldn’t dig deep within myself to start feeling better about ME. I grew up as an older sibling to a mom who had a very strong support system when it came to me and my sibling; my mom’s parents and uncles were nothing but a blessing to us.

Later on in life, I did start to re-build a relationship with my dad, my other grandparents, other siblings, and my amazing aunts. They were the reason I gained confidence in myself and my complexion. As I got older I did get into trouble & went to jail multiple times (nobody is perfect).

Hung out with people who meant me no good, people stole from me when I gave everything I could and then some, and ran into some users & manipulators as well. I also allowed people to lie to me and make themselves look good, was homeless on more than one occasion, and found out that certain family & friends aren’t any good either. With all those things mentioned never stopped me from wanting to be better in life, doing things I was told I couldn’t do, and wanting to get far away from things that I knew were hindering me, and were about my money. I listened to others about trying to go to the military but because of my background I couldn’t go (blessing in disguise) and even did the college thing and obtained a degree in criminology but that wasn’t satisfactory enough.
