Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
We are the MAKO Girls. Our girl group is based in Atlanta, Georgia where we’re born and raised. The start that got us into the music industry came from us having a general love for music and dance. As we tapped into the world of entertainment we was inspired by the boy group Mindless Behavior to turn the passion into a career. And since 2013 we have done over 300 shows, traveled worldwide, and created our own opportunities. Throughout the years of pursuing our career we have grown our audience from live performances and social media. Gaining 1.4 million followers on TikTok, 18k subscribers,32.6k followers on Instagram, and hitting over 100k streams on our single “Aint Thinkin Bout You”. We having also been able to work with incredible brands such as NikeJD Sports, Dollskill, ambassador for Beatsbydre, and many more.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It wasn’t a smooth road for us especially starting so young. We really struggled with the high demand of social media, posting every day for people to see our journey. However, we have learned that people want to see our day to day to be able connect with us and know our personalities. Often times trying to bring people into your world can be difficult, especially when you don’t know how much of your life you want to put out there.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We are a pop and Rnb trio girl group. Each member in the band sing, dance, and rap. And are known best for our live performances and being influencers on social media.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
People who’ve known us for years or even new people are always shocked when they find out the meaning behind our name “MAKO Girls”, each letter in the name is an acronym for our individual names. M for Mimi, A for A-Ni, K for Kena, and our last name Ochoa. Another thing is that we all have different interests that we do such as cosplay, gaming, and beauty.
