Daily Inspiration: Meet Mario McCoy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mario McCoy.

Mario, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started modeling a little over a year ago. A lot of people told me that I should model so I did a photoshoot for fun and I loved It.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’m still fairly new so the road has been pretty smooth. A lot of things are still new to me so I’m really excited about all of the opportunities that have came my way. Any new journey comes with some bumps in the road, so whenever I experience those I’m confident that I’ll be ready to handle them.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I started off doing mostly photoshoots but now I’m into runway modeling as well. I’ve been in over ten shows since last September and plan on being in as many as I can this year as well. I’m really proud of the fact that I’ve actually stuck with modeling this long. When you first start, you don’t really see a financial gain so it’s easy to get discouraged. I feel like my passion for modeling is what keeps me going. What really sets me apart is the fact that I’m willing to go the extra mile to get things done. Also, I don’t mind constructive criticism. I’m always trying to improve.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
As far as business, I like to give a lot of credit to the photographers I’ve worked with so far. They’ve all shown me different things and ways to set myself apart from other models. I just appreciate the fact that they were willing to work with me for free. Also, I give credit to the brands that I’m an ambassador for (Loyalty Clo, The Black Demand, Xperience Savy)(all located in my hometown St. Louis, MO). Last but not least I give credit to all of the runway coaches, show directors, fellow models, and designers that help me with my runway modeling. They continue to put me and shows and give me the coaching I need to improve.

As far as personal, I owe my family and friends all the credit and thanks. They’ve really been my biggest cheerleaders. Lil D, my beautiful babies, my mom, my dad, my bonus moms, and my bros. We locked in so when I make it they gone be right there with me.
