Daily Inspiration: Meet Mario Reid

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mario Reid.

Hi Mario, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Hi Im Mario, I am a Graphics Designer, a long time gamer and VR enthusiast. through the years I have supported the Atlanta competitive Fighting game scene whether it be competing, doing graphic design for streams/products, supporting through cosplay or helping to get Atlantas competitive players on TBS for ELEAGUE. But I have always had a passion for the VR industry. 3 years ago I decided to make a leap and support the upcoming VR boxing community and Started FightFrame Productions, a company that provides design and production oriented solutions for VR developers in the niche VR Boxing and COmbat Sport genre. To make waves, I developed RingsideVR, a Youtube channel that hosts weekly digital VR Boxing events, manages a VR boxing league and a community of boxers,

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. Conceptually, this has never been done before, I already for a fulltime job so there were alot of time equity for me to work with, when In started I largely did not have much experience with Youtube and while my base knowledge of streaming consisted of Lets play FIghting game streams, those skills were not enought for me to deliver on what was needed.

Couple that with the fact that the games at the time were not good to work with and missing key features (observer modes, graphics, multiplayer capabilities etc)

There is also the fact that I do not own the games in wich I use for my events and there is direct competition everywhere as the games get more traction.

I wake up every day and ita a new thing to learn or a new fire to put out and I still have to make the shows go

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My work is varied. At a baseline I am a graphic Designer for Bleacher Report/Warnerbrothers Discorvery. My Design areas include but are not limited to: Social media Graphics, Show Design Graphics, App interface Design, Product Design, Set Design. General Graphic Design.

I have also worked in the creative area of Cosplay, competing in a few events for Fighting games (Final Round, DreamHack, EVO World Fighting game championships)

I think the work that I have been most proud of at WBD was the work we did for ELEAGUE, I was able to combine alot of my skillset there to provide the on air graphics, I also provided all of the cosplayers for the events, as well as worked with the team backstage with talent.

Recently in the cosplay world im most proud to be the FIrst EVO medal finalist for Cosplay, a long time dream of mine ot have an EVO medal.

What sets me apart?
– Im Modest tbh I think that im the same as many other designers who are in their passions, but when i interface with colleagues, they say that I bring a level of professionalism and spirit to my work especially when its within my areas of interest and that I am refreshing to work with because my enthusiasm is infectious. I am not only a visionary but someone who can get to it to bring my creative ideas to life and am willing to help everyone on my teams.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
