Daily Inspiration: Meet Marú David

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marú David.

Hi Marú, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’m a proud native of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands with a love for all things tech law, home decor and lifestyle. A tech lawyer by day, I am also a lifestyle blogger and YouTube creator. In my spare time, I serve as a STEM advocate for young entrepreneurs, innovators and inventors (inspiring children to pursue their own entrepreneurial dreams). My entrepreneurial journey began in 2004 when I launched my first business as a residential interior painting to help pay for grad and law school. In 2011, I launched a second business as an independent consultant in the fashion accessory sector and eventually expanded it to personal styling, product/brand marketing and content creating. After graduating law school in 2014, I accepted a position in the DC area and closed my interior painting business to focus on my legal career.

In 2017, my father passed away from a heart attack. I didn’t know it at the time, but this was where my journey as a content creator would really begin. I closed my second business as an independent consultant and took a step back to focus more on my own health, as well as self-care through meditation and journaling (ultimately heightening my interest in and aptitude for writing and blogging). One year later, I launched “Faith Love Life & Style,” a blog centered on lifestyle, home, wellness and inspiration for everyday living. And in 2020, from my little apartment during the peak of the pandemic, I took my lifestyle blog to video format on YouTube. In 2022, I relocated to Atlanta to help care for my mother. Now a full-time content creator and caregiver, I hope to inspire others as I embark on this exciting yet challenging journey.

While building my brand as a lifestyle blogger and through networking, I’ve met some amazing entrepreneurs and inspiring creatives. It is my hope that “Faith Love Life & Style” offers inspiration to others while adding a little joy to their day. I aim to inspire others to tap into their own gifts, passions and ability to pursue all that they aspire to do.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
While the journey has been rewarding and exciting, it hasn’t been a smooth road. Along the way, I have struggled with grief and loss, challenges brought on by the COVID pandemic, work-life balance during and my sudden relocation to help care for my mother. Yet grateful for the lessons learned and wisdom gained.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
A tech lawyer by day, I am also a lifestyle blogger and YouTube creator. I specialize in patent law and other aspects of intellectual property law. When I am not working as a lawyer, I enjoy creating digital/video content centered on interior decorating, home improvement and DIY.

One thing that I am most proud of is the leap of faith I took to relocate to Atlanta. While it was a decision to assist with the care of my mom, each month, I continue to receive confirmation that it was also the best decision I could have made for myself.

I’d say that what sets me apart from others is my imagination (and zest for life) and how it impacts other important characteristics like my determination, persistence and commitment. Even when life gets hard or challenges arise, I find myself (or at least, some part of me) getting excited about a positive outcome or imagining myself sharing a testimony of how it all worked out. It’s hard to explain, but my imagination is a like my safe space to work through and get through anything until the goal is achieved or the problem is solved.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I would say my faith is most important to my success.
