Daily Inspiration: Meet Me’Lo The Generation Hero

Today we’d like to introduce you to Me’Lo The Generation Hero.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started freestyling with my dad at the age of four. I won local talent shows and made a neighborhood name for myself at a young age. Utilizing any and every resource, Monday – Sunday I was excited to use the Chicago public library youth media recording studio. On a first come first serve basis high school students are encouraged to record for an hour each day. I love hearing my voice on the mic. I am in love with the process of writing investing time and skill while evoking thought and knowledge. I released my first single independently “Anything is Possible” in 2019. A year later I released my debut project which is a six-track “Elevation” Ep:

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My narrow path has been pretty straight. Not exactly easy or smooth but definitely worth it. Some struggle I faced in the beginning was expressing individuality. I’m favored and different and it’s hard to get new fans to ride your wave. However, it’s not impossible with consistency faith and discipline I continue the marathons treat everyone with kindness and gravitate to where I am appreciated. Being an independent artist has its challenges. A lot of mine started financially. Budgeting for recording sessions, video shoots, and travel expenses for events and photoshoots. That’s where I had to have faith. I’m still growing and developing a team who is willing to invest in me because we all have the same vision. A solid team is the most important after faith and momentum!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was curious and adventurous. I love to read and challenge my vocabulary. I was raised with three siblings and lots of male cousins so I ran with the big dogs. I became tough overcoming adversity. I adopted an attitude of determination and resilience. I refuse to be a product of my environment and that gave me the truth and passion to speak boldly about issues that affect my communities. I was interested in current events the latest fashion family art and food. I often use as a foundation for creativity.
