Today we’d like to introduce you to mianca woodall.
Hi mianca, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Mianca, yet most people call me Mia. I am from Cleveland, Ohio, and I am also a veteran! I had the pleasure of working with an Aeronautics company before following my passion for photography full-time. Once I made the decision, I used all my connections to place myself in the rooms that mattered! I’ve been able to meet other creatives and express myself freely through my work.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I didn’t have many obstacles, but the challenge may be to really hone in on your niche. Most of my photography is portrait-style, which I prefer, along with candids. You may feel the need to try and master every angle, but elevating your own style is more beneficial. Create your own lane and stay in it; don’t try other people’s styles, you have to always follow your heart.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My work has escalated to bigger platforms. My work now includes concerts, weddings, corporate events, and I’m back working the fashion show markets. Once again, each is very different when shooting. I’ve been able to successfully pivot all of these environments with ease. I’ve been able to stay busy enough to master my own process so when big events are presented, I welcome them with pure confidence. My goal was to be an international traveling photographer and I am currently living in the moments I prayed for.
What were you like growing up?
I grew up in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. It was pretty normal, to say the least, and I really enjoyed my childhood. Going to the mall, park, movies, road trips, and skating with friends was the norm for me. I do find it ironic that I did the photography for my high school yearbook my senior year. Life comes around full circle, and I’m back tapping into a creative passion that has always been special to me.
