Daily Inspiration: Meet Mike Fields

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mike Fields.

Hi Mike, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
When I first started shooting, I in no way expected to be where I am at in photography or as madly passionate as I am about this industry. My first DSLR was very basic and I began my journey shooting floral, street and my family. With a major push from my family, I decided to upgrade my camera, lens and knowledge of photography. My wife actually set up my first real shoot with an upcoming Social Media influencer and from there, I was in my element. I utilized tools from social media and networking at many events to expand the versatility of my portfolio.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I feel like as a creative, you will always experience many ups and downs. Not just the struggles of trying to make your name in this industry but also the internal battle of wanting more or being the best. There were many times where my “break” almost turned into giving up on this dream but thankfully I have a supportive family that reminds me of how hard I’m being on myself as a creative. Their reminders and confidence boosting always brings me back to why I am doing this and it’s for them and to fulfill my dreams.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Don’t like to box myself into a category which is why I love that Creatives are being widely and more publicly accepted then ever. I am a photographer first but hold many other skills like Graphic and Fashion Design. In my photography, I’m best known for my clean and sharp images. Clients love the composition and mood edits of my work the most. I really enjoy fitting the setting with the outfit or feel for the shoot. Finding new and unique locations are always implemented into my work as well.

How do you define success?
How do I define success? Success can be defined in so many ways. There is financial and stability success, completion of a goal big or small success and so many other ways to define your success. When you don’t compare your success to another’s success, you will find yourself accomplishing more than you might have intended. That’s the code I plan to instill in my sons.
