Today we’d like to introduce you to Mistyle Carter.
Hi Mistyle, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hi yall, I’m Misty most know me as Mimi! You can also find me at youseemimi_xo on Instagram. I’m 27. Born and raised in Georgia. Dog mom to 6yr old mixed pitty named Dutchess. I’ve always had a passion for taking pictures, from a little girl using my up all my grandmother’s film in her crank disposable cameras, waiting on the film to get developed, to Polaroids that print instantly & you gotta shake them to dry, to a digital camera with a built-in printer dock, to an iPhone to buying my own canon rebel t7. I capture the beauty and emotion in everyday scenes…most of the scenes that are easy to overlook. The way I immortalize my client’s biggest days is so euphoric for me and my brand. I never really took it serious until I met my fiancé of six years now, and as he was already an independent music artist, by me attending his shows, made me want so much more, so I just started shooting pictures at his shows, now they are his mixtape covers. So when I see my work being used proudly by other people, it makes me go harder! My photography [TSK] Images name comes from a tragedy I endured losing my 3 best friends back to back Tiara in 2017, Selina in 2018, Kevin in 2019, to my grandpa in 2020. Sadly, pictures only become memories once we lose someone we loved. So between me having passion to turn any vision into a beautiful picture, and to keep their name alive, I decided to go with TSK Images! We are ft on @piedmontpark @universaljointatl @visitdsandysprings.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting my TSK Images journey, first is heartwarming for the fact my brand name is from my friends that are no longer with me, and they not even here to see this..with a heavy heart it definity hasn’t always been easy for me, I came across many struggles getting to where I’m at now, believe it or not I still cross them to this day. I would say though, the biggest challenge I have faced is finding confidence in myself & finding my fine skills as a photographer. With the social market being so big, it’s easy to compare yourself with others and lose faith. But over time, as I started to see my results as well as being able to fix my process and learning curve, my self-confidence came back to me. Stronger than ever. Also, when I first started photography I had to make the decision to quit my 2nd job, to start my own business and to make sure the time was there for photoshoots, editing, networking, etc. So my part time job waiting tables became my own photography business. I’m still learning how to gain/meet new clients, which has led me into freelance photography for my close friends and family. Once I took the pictures, and added a slight edit to them, everyone was amazed and kept saying I need to start charging for them, so it just made me have a bigger vision of my brand and step outside the box.
What makes you happy?
Seeing the excitement on my client’s face when they see the image/images we have created together. Interacting with different cultures, vibes, and lifestyles has definitely been a learning journey for me, & I’m excited to see for what the future holds for TSK Images.
