Daily Inspiration: Meet Monanik “Miss Moe” Dugar

Today we’d like to introduce you to Monanik “Miss Moe” Dugar.

Hi Monanik “Miss Moe”, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
What’s funny is that many people don’t know that I attended acting school in my teens. So, acting isn’t new to me and has always been a passion of mine. Of course, life happens and sometimes you have to put dreams on the back burner for a while. Fast forward during Covid, everything slowed down and I had time to really think about my dreams again. So, I decided to jump back into it and started training. Since then, I have had the pleasure of working alongside some incredibly talented people. I consider myself a perpetual student, learning and growing with each project while enjoying every step of the journey.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I would say it’s been a fun yet challenging road but not necessarily smooth. I say this because this can be a rewarding but tough industry. As you are told “no” majority of the time and this can be the ultimate challenge to get past. You have to have thick skin to brush it off, pick yourself up and continue the journey. You have to know within yourself no matter how many times you are knocked down you are enough and to keep pushing forward.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am an Actress/Artist. I predominately work on TV/Film & Commercial work. Most of my work I am known for are feature films. Some of my most recent work that I am proud of is Christmas by Design (BET+), Dressed to Kill (Lifetime) & Christmas in the Friendly Skies (Amazon Prime) to name a few. Ultimately, I’m grateful for every project and opportunity, as each experience has shaped me as an artist.

How do you define success?
Success to me within this industry is obtaining and meeting the goals I set for myself. Every time I audition and have the opportunity to show my talent that’s a win for me. I may not book every role but booking the room and the people in it is the ultimate goal. I make sure to give myself grace as this is the long game. That to me is success!
