Daily Inspiration: Meet Monica Duarte

Today we’d like to introduce you to Monica Duarte.

Hi Monica, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started back in 2015 as a personal stylist for many DMV artists, such as pinky killacorn and Janae music. From there, I began to merge off into the nail industry in 2019. I went to school to become certified and started doing nails exclusively for over three years.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It was actually smooth sailing. Clientele picked up especially due to the pandemic but my life personally was an interesting one. I found my birth mother and birth siblings in 2020, still dealing with the loss of my unborn child from 2017 and dealing with divorce. All since I had started nails.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a nail tech who is looking to start my own nail school. I specialize in pedicures and pedi fullsets. I’m proud that I have stuck it out even when I lost the passion. What sets me apart from others is the energy and vibes you get when you sit in my chair. I’ve been called a healer by many clients.

What’s next?
I plan to officially move to Atlanta and hope to open a barbershop/salon with my girlfriend. She is a barber.
