Today we’d like to introduce you to Nakia Campbell.
Hi Nakia, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always loved to play dress up and in make up since I was a little girl. As I grew into my adulthood, I became an entertainer so I would do my own makeup for work. I started to do other’s makeup as well and as I transitioned into my medical field, I still had a passion for makeup and doing it as well. I came up with the name SK’Amour in 2019 which are my daughter and son name initials and Amour which means love. I plan to expand it with more things to offer other than just make up services, it’ll be services for children as well to experience. This is a family business built off love with a strong foundation, we believe that everyone is beautiful in their own unique way and we want to enhance that beauty in every way that we can. My motto is let’s glow together! There is no competition when you’re only focused on improving your own brand, we focus on lifting each other up and flourishing into the best versions of ourselves.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth ride at all, there’s been many times I’ve thought about stopping or just got discouraged along the way. Roadblocks and detours is how I look at things now, you have to change your perspective to change your life. I’ve worked at a couple of malls, salons, and even from home. I’m currently mobile (freelance) and home-based. I just tell myself to keep going, this is only the beginning every roadblock was to protect me and every detour was to redirect me. I’m exactly where I am supposed to be on my journey.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a freelance makeup artist, I specialize in brow waxing, arching, brow fill ins, full face glam, mini face glams, mink strips, individual mink eyelashes, bridal parties, photoshoots, and much more to come. I’m most proud of my willpower to perfect my craft consistently, I’ve come a long way from where I started. The thing that sets me apart from others is the customer service I provide and how I make my clients feel inside out, not to mention I have very affordable prices.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I don’t believe in luck, I believe in putting in the work and letting your results speak for you. Like the saying goes, “You get out what you put in”, that’s the reality of things.
