Today we’d like to introduce you to Natalie Houston.
Natalie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I have always loved taking pictures whether it was of food, places I traveled to or pictures of my family and friends. I always fiddled with it but saw it more as a hobby than a career move. In 2019 I started working at a wedding venue as an assistant to a wedding planner/coordinator. I loved everything about it! I enjoyed watching the photographers capturing the little moments throughout the day. When I had my daughter in 2020, I loved taking her milestone pictures. My husband could see my interest in it so he surprised me with my first Canon camera in 2021 for Mother’s Day! I was so nervous to get started but once I did, I haven’t stopped! I love capturing the little moments and the big ones because I appreciate those things being captured in my own life. I enjoy working with other photographers and learning from them. I love growing in my skill!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not been easy….there have been many seasons of being busy and also many seasons of not having any business and feeling like I should just give up. I am still growing my client base and it can be difficult when you live in an area very saturated with photographers. But I know God will always provide me with the clients that I need.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a 4K paraprofessional in a small farming town near where I live. I love children and enjoy their personalities! Because of this, I love getting to take pictures of families with littles and of course the newborn sessions!
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I live the diversity in Atlanta and the food options!! I don’t like the traffic but only because where I live, there is never any traffic.
