Today we’d like to introduce you to Neanna Jones.
Hi Neanna, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Growing up, I always dreamed of becoming an actress. I was naturally dramatic, full of expression, and loved the idea of being in movies — yet at the same time, I was shy and never quite fit into the “in crowd.” I often kept to myself, quietly holding onto a dream I didn’t yet know how to pursue.
My love for performing began around middle school, at about 12 years old, and continued into high school. During that time, my best friend and I would make funny videos together and upload them to YouTube. It was never anything serious — just us having fun, being creative, and laughing at ourselves. There was no strategy or plan, just joy.
When I got to college at Albany State University, creativity found its way back into my life in an unexpected way. Around 2019, I took a marketing course where one of our assignments required us to use TikTok as a creative tool. That class reignited something in me. I started creating funny videos again — this time with intention — hoping to build a community and truly express myself.
Around that same period, I began taking on background acting roles. One of the most impactful experiences was working as an extra on the hit CW show Black Lightning. On set, I had the opportunity to meet actor Clifton Powell, one of my favorite actors. Hearing him share how he got started through extra roles gave me the courage to keep going and reminded me that every journey starts somewhere.
Even so, progress felt slow. I continued creating content, but it often felt like I wasn’t being noticed. I became discouraged and eventually reached a point where I considered giving up on my passion.
After graduating from Albany State University with my Master’s degree in Business Administration, concentrating in Supply Chain & Logistics, I was offered a position with an amazing company. Over the course of three years, I built my career in supply chain logistics and was promoted three times, which affirmed my work ethic, leadership, and dedication. However, during that time, I stopped nurturing my creative dreams, convincing myself that stability should come before passion.
My final promotion came with hope for continued growth, but that’s when things began to change. Despite my performance and advancement, I found myself denied opportunities to progress at every turn in my latest position. The constant roadblocks led to anxiety and deep frustration. After much prayer and reflection, I made one of the hardest decisions of my life — to resign — realizing there was no longer room for purpose or growth in that path.
Looking back, I remember telling my mother early in my corporate career that I felt like I was just existing. Deep down, I knew I was meant to be doing something different. My spirit would not settle.
So I returned to what God placed in my heart from the beginning — creating. I started making funny videos again, fully committing to my passion and trusting the calling I felt in my spirit.
Then everything changed.
On November 14, 2025, I posted a lighthearted video joking with my mom about how parents ask you to do everything. It was pure, relatable humor — and it went viral. The video reached over 2.2 million views, was shared thousands of times, and began circulating beyond TikTok, with other content creators resharing it on Instagram. As a result, my TikTok following grew from 6,297 followers to over 25.2K and counting.
Around August of 2021, I also experienced a moment that would stay with me forever — working as an extra at Tyler Perry Studios. Standing on that lot, something in my spirit told me I was always meant to be there. It honestly startled me in the best way. I took a photo in front of the Dream Building and prayed that one day I would become an actress and have the opportunity to work with Tyler Perry. It would be an absolute honor. I deeply admire his story, his resilience, and the strength it took to build everything he has from the ground up.
That moment felt like confirmation.
Now, as I look ahead, I’m excited for the future and everything God has in store for me. I know the sky is truly the limit, and there is no stopping what God has planned for my life. My journey hasn’t been linear, but every step — the faith, the setbacks, the promotions, the courage to pivot, and the breakthrough moments — has led me right back to who I was always meant to be.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of my biggest struggles has been learning self-love.
Like many kids, I experienced bullying growing up, especially because of my size. That stayed with me and created a lot of self-doubt, making me feel like I wasn’t pretty enough or fully comfortable being myself. When I was younger, I didn’t like being alone because I worried about not being accepted, and for a long time I felt I needed to have a friend with me just to feel comfortable participating in things.
Even as I started creating funny videos, there were moments when I struggled with how I looked on camera. But at the same time, there were signs that this was something I was meant to do. Whenever my dad, mom, and sister couldn’t stop laughing at the different characters I created, I knew humor was a gift God placed inside me.
Eventually, something shifted. I had to take my power back and remind myself that God created me exactly the way I am. I chose to show up authentically, silence the haters, and pray for them instead.
Leaning on God and my family helped me learn to see myself the way they always had — beautiful inside and out. While those insecurities still pop up from time to time, I now understand that self-love is a journey. And I’m grateful to be discovering who Neanna truly is, one day at a time.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a content creator and aspiring actress who specializes in character-driven, relatable comedy rooted in everyday life. My content often centers around family dynamics, Southern humor, and real-life moments people immediately recognize — whether I’m joking with my family, playing multiple characters, or bringing humor to situations we’ve all experienced. I love creating content that makes people feel seen, laugh out loud, and forget about their stress, even if just for a moment.
I’m especially known for my ability to create multiple characters and bring them to life with distinct personalities, voices, and mannerisms. Comedy has always come naturally to me, and I use it as a way to connect, heal, and uplift. What I’m most proud of is staying authentic — I don’t try to be anyone else. I show up as myself and allow my faith, humor, and real experiences to guide my work.
One of my proudest moments was when one of my videos went viral, reaching over 2.2 million views, and my TikTok following grew from 6,297 to over 25.2K. Seeing people share my content, tag their family members, and say “this is so us” confirmed that my purpose is bigger than views — it’s about connection.
What sets me apart is my heart and perspective. I lead with faith, self-love, and joy, even after experiencing doubt and setbacks. I bring warmth, relatability, and honesty to everything I create, and I’m intentional about using humor to uplift others while staying true to who God created me to be.
How do you think about luck?
I don’t really see things as luck; I see them as God’s blessings and His timing. Every opportunity, setback, and breakthrough in my life has been guided by Him, even when I didn’t fully understand it at the time.
There were seasons when doors closed that I thought I needed, and those moments were disappointing. But with perspective, I can see that those closed doors were often protection and redirection. The challenges — the delays, rejection, and moments of doubt — helped shape me, teach me patience, and prepare me for what was ahead.
