Today we’d like to introduce you to Nia Dennis.
Hi Nia, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Man, I still remember being a little girl trying to put together outfits with my Cinderella slippers. Always wanting to stand out and be best dressed. Born in Decatur, to the Queen herself and my dad I was a barbie out the womb. I didn’t always have the best clothes but in my head, I was the freshest person in the class. My mom got me started with entrepreneurship in my junior year of high school. I had the honor of working for Queen Inches LLC, selling luxury bundles, wigs and so much more. After seeing my mom put these smiles on people’s face and styling them I knew what I wanted. After I graduated I joined the army and started a career, but moving from Colorado to South Carolina with my son sparked a big change. The PANDEMIC.
So, March 2020 opened my eyes to fashion, with extra time and money away from the army I decided to start making purses for women with items that come with them such as lashes, nails, shoes, bathing suits and more. After my second blessing was born, I decided to get back to my business. It didn’t feel the same anymore and the passion wasn’t there. Since it’s not about the money for me but more so something I love I decided to wait until I was ready to get serious. Towards the end of the year, my life flashed before me literally. Postpartum depression kicked my ass! But through therapy, healing and more I conquered every weapon that tried to form against me. This year God spoke to me and said, “it’s time”. I decided I wanted to change my entire image and website to reflect personal and virtual styling. Since then I have over 60,000 views on Tik Tok, 9,1000 followers on Facebook, become an affiliate for Hurley, Amazon, DhGate, Unice and more! Let’s just say it’s been a long time coming.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This road has been so crazy. You lose friends, family, hope and more. Some die but others you have to stray away from because of the toxic relationship. Something that impacted me a lot was losing people. Some of the closest people to me have been killed or passed away sadly. So as I chase my dream instead of hiding from the world and isolating myself, I continue my success and shed few tears because I know for a fact they’re proud of me. Another thing about being an entrepreneur is trying to balance a million things. Juggling being the best mother, soldier, businesswoman that I can but also making sure I stay sane is exhausting sometimes. Some days it feels like you haven’t spent enough time with the kids, or you don’t feel like cooking. Or maybe you’re so busy focusing on your passion you forget about your career. I’ve had to learn patience and time management. So I can take care of my household, my kids, and most importantly myself. And of course, you have those days where you feel like if you had a companion it wouldn’t be so hard but being a single mom isn’t a crutch. This made me the woman I am today.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As of August 2022, I am a viral stylist. You provide me with a budget, sizes, date and event theme and I create a cart within 24 hours! A lot of people do not have time to sit down and look through a million sites. Or they may not know how to specifically put together the look they want. That’s where I come in. Building confidence, creating styles and making life more simple for my clients. I notice a lot of people think if they hire a stylist they have to be in designer or they can’t afford me. If you tell me you need a $10 white dress, I’ll find you one for $6, this is a no judgement, any budget styling service! I am also a brand ambassador, I support businesses all over! People provide me with outfits, services and more to promote. Some I just promote because I see the passion in their work. Two people, I recently had the pleasure of working with is Jasmine Kennedy, Owner of Beat By Jas on Facebook! And for some great photography, check out Bostick Photography on Facebook as well both located in the Columbia, SC area. There’s great talent out there sometimes, they just need the exposure. Because one thing is for sure, networking can make you more money than marketing!
Any big plans?
One day if it’s God’s will, I will be a celebrity stylist. I’m looking forward to longevity. Being able to live off doing the things I love! And soon I’m going to be at Paris fashion week where I’ll showcase my latest looks. Yeah, that’s my goal.
