Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole West.
Hi Nicole , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I have always had a creative brain…I worked for a builder doing interior design for model homes years ago…took time off to be a mom to my two boys – one with Cerebral Palsy that needed my complete attention. Once both were a little older and in school I started my company with one client that has grown into clients across Metro Atlanta and Nationwide…all based on referrals.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One thing I will always be is a mom first – so balancing the needs of my clients with being a mom can prove to be tricky because I want to make everyone happy! I try my hardest to work when the boys are at school only – with the occasional late afternoon appointment or phone chat if needed…I also work on my mood boards when the boys go to bed…being present for them is the most important thing to me.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am an interior designer that does residential and commercial spaces. I take on any project from paint color selections to my most recent pride and joy – a greek restaurant! No project is too small and so far no project is too big! I also do staging, holiday design and installations and charity design work for an organization that creates spaces for special needs kiddos (something that is very close to my heart) I pride myself in not being a one trick pony in the design world…im not known for only using certain colors or being good at one style…I am a chameleon that designs around the style of my client. My portfolio shows the widest range of spaces and designs! I am most proud of my most recent restaurant – Yeero Village Lawrencevile GA – I turned an Arby’s into the most beautiful greek restaurant!
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
It’s just me! I have contractors and tradesmen that I put on my projects but my company consists of myself and my sweet mom who does my accounting! My boys are my biggest cheerleaders – during the summers they come with me on site visits sometimes and even help me check off items on the to-do lists! They share ideas on lighting and colors sometimes too! (they are 12 and 8 so its really sweet)
