Today we’d like to introduce you to Niyati Jiwani.
Hi Niyati, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
The journey to begin with was very thick and thin. It took years of practice and dedication to be the artist I am today. Every day was a learning experience, but my soul as an artist made me stand against all odds in my career. My new artwork always makes me a student, and I learn new things from my each art piece. With each of my paintings, it enhances my skills and instills new dynamics as an artist in me holistically.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has always been a tough journey pursuing a career as an artist. The level of difficulty was extreme as I had a lack of mentorship and no road map for the future. I need to act and research, and dive deep down in this subject to excel. I read lots and lots of blogs, many books, and other material wherever I could find and get more and more information. I watched many videos and opted for some courses, In a nutshell, I was on a journey to find me a road which can lead me to some sort of knowledge and take me forward. The failures I faced were more an encouragement and turned for me onto positive notes.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I started with realistic paintings. Initially, my art and painting was very tight and from a source which I make digital first and then painted it. Slowly and gradually with lots of practice, I started to loosen up on my hand as an artist. As we speak, I paint freely and intuitively. I started painting abstract art and abstract figurative, using oils, acrylics and experimenting with new techniques, different styles, and materials. Being an explorer, I also worked with abstract, atmospheric landscapes. Further, I discovered a road which I had never chosen in the past. While making abstract paintings, I figured out that my process subconsciously incorporated all of my yesteryears knowhow. I am proud of myself as I persevered and still practiced a lot with confidence in my art.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Being an introvert, it was very difficult to convey my thoughts in general. So it comes in my art some or the other way. The journey of being an artist made me change my perspective of looking at life into a very positive way and has also changed me to become more sociable and vocal.
