Today we’d like to introduce you to Noah (RealVenom) Baker.
Hi Noah (RealVenom), it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Music is in my blood; it only made sense I would eventually become a musical artist myself. I grew up surrounded by music; my grandmother was a jazz vocalist, and my uncle was a rapper. My mother would always be playing old-school R&B/Pop music and having me engrossed in the sounds of Michael Jackson, Hall & Oats, Journey, Prince, and more.
Being a super intelligent kid growing up (at least that is what I would like to believe), I was always found reading books and writing. I would be writing short stories and poems all the time. So, my pen game was sharpened from a very young age, and my vocabulary was pretty decent too.
Eventually, short stories and poetry slowly evolved into writing lyrics, and on the days I wasn’t found freestyling with my friends, I would be penning out songs. Sure, they were probably terrible songs compared to what I have done recently, but those were my origins.
I got together with a handful of friends, we made a rap group called Lyrical Legends, and together we realized a handful of songs onto SoundCloud. Over time, I inserted myself into a variety of different SoundCloud communities, ranging across various genres of music, from Lo-Fi to Nerdcore Hip-Hop.
I wasn’t the most confident regarding my sound and delivery, I was still finding my voice, but I met some outstanding and talented artists during those days who helped shape who I am today. With over 100 songs released in total, I can honestly say I found my sound and who I am as an artist.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
As all journeys go, the roads are always bumpy, even now. Out of the many trials and tribulations I have faced, I believe the most important ones were survival and betrayal. Figuring out my day-to-day, questioning my position in life and who I truly wanted to be. Even now, with me attending college (for the 4th time), I am still figuring out my overall life path and how I can include music.
As for betrayal, everyone faces this at one point in life. Whether it is minor or major, betrayal from friends, family, or a blossoming relationship, I have dealt with being stabbed in the back more times than I can count. Still, I truly believe God put those obstacles in front of me to make me stronger when I passed through them. Facing those struggles head-on made me stronger, more focused, and more honest with myself and others around me.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I do many different things, but my primary focus is music. I am a budding recording artist/audio engineer, soon to add beatmaker (producer) to that. I also do graphic design, visual design/editing, photography, and social media marketing. All to help me propel my music career even further by pairing it with the necessary promotion and visual aspects an artist needs to be heard AND seen.
What truly sets me apart from other musical artist who may do the same is my creativity and passion behind the music. I always chase new sounds and unique flavors of telling stories through my art. I wouldn’t say I like staying stagnate, and I do not like chasing trends. I create what I find to be fun and design a whole vibe/aesthetic around it. If people like it, incredible; if they don’t, then it’s too bad; maybe they’ll get hip on the next release.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success to me is simply being able to live the life you want. Whether it is a simple suburban life with a wife and kids, or maybe in a big city in a beautiful condo, or even traveling the world solo or with the love of your life, whatever that image in your head may be, chase after that and obtain it, regardless of what anyone else says to you, because that is your success.
