Hi Olasubomi, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Eight years ago, I discovered my passion for photography. It all started with a serendipitous moment on the beach, my favorite sanctuary during times of overwhelm. One sunny day, I captured a couple lost in a blissful moment with nothing but my iPhone 8. Their genuine reaction to the photo sparked a fire within me, revealing a deeper purpose in my craft.
Driven by this newfound passion, I delved into the intricacies of photography, exploring techniques and perfecting my art. Despite facing hurdles upon relocating to the USA, my dedication to photography remained unwavering. I often found myself investing my last dollar in equipment and props, driven by a profound love for the interplay of light and color.
Photography has not only shaped my career but also transformed my outlook on life. Through my lens, I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with diverse individuals, each encounter enriching my understanding of the world and reinforcing my belief in the power of visual storytelling.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No! Navigating the journey as an immigrant photographer in the USA has certainly had its share of challenges. Understanding the market dynamics and finding my footing in a new environment posed significant hurdles. Additionally, personal struggles, such as the dissolution of my marriage, added emotional weight to the journey.
Relocating from Rhode Island to Georgia marked a pivotal moment in my path. Despite the upheaval, I was fortunate to find solace and support within a vibrant community of friends. It was within this nurturing environment that I began to rebuild, both personally and professionally.
Slowly but steadily, I worked on expanding my portfolio, seizing every opportunity to hone my craft. Through it all, I’ve been humbled by the grace of God, whose mercy has guided me through the darkest moments and illuminated the path forward. While the road has been far from smooth, each obstacle has only strengthened my resolve and deepened my appreciation for the journey.

I specialize in visual storytelling photography, utilizing color gels and hard lighting techniques to intricately capture the essence of each narrative. My work is distinguished by its vivid portrayal of emotions and attention to detail and luxury fill.
What I cherish most is the profound connection I establish with my subjects. This genuine rapport allows me to delve deep into their stories, curating shoots that authentically reflect their essence.
What sets me apart is my natural approach to creativity. My process flows effortlessly, allowing me to seamlessly blend artistry with intuition. This innate quality infuses my work with a unique authenticity, setting it apart in a crowded creative landscape.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
My perspective on risk-taking is rooted in the belief that inaction can be the greatest risk of all. When I made the decision to relocate to Georgia, I understood the inherent challenges of starting anew with my four-year-old son, who is now six. Despite the uncertainties, I embraced various menial jobs to sustain us while keeping my focus steadfastly on my passion for photography.
Every day, I challenge myself to push beyond limits and strive for excellence. My approach to risk-taking has often been perceived as daring, earning me the nickname “ballsy” within my Nigerian community. I wholeheartedly embrace this reputation, as it reflects my willingness to pursue creative ideas with unwavering determination, regardless of the obstacles that may arise.
Today, I am grateful for the person I have become—a resilient individual who refuses to let fear dictate my path. Each risk I’ve taken has propelled me forward, shaping me into the person and photographer I am today
