Daily Inspiration: Meet Oleksandra Sokhonchuk

Today we’d like to introduce you to Oleksandra Sokhonchuk

Hi Oleksandra, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Ever since I can remember, I’ve had a deep appreciation for fine chocolate and exquisite craftsmanship. I’ve always believed that a gift should be more than just an object—it should be an experience. That’s how the idea for my business was born.

I wanted to create something truly unique, something that didn’t exist on the market. That’s when I envisioned chocolate bouquets—delicate, handcrafted flowers made from premium Belgian chocolate, each with a luxurious center of real fruit purée, house-made caramel, praline, and the finest nuts. Every flower is meticulously crafted, ensuring both beauty and an unforgettable taste.

The process wasn’t easy. Each piece requires skill and patience. I spent countless hours perfecting recipes, selecting only the highest quality ingredients, and refining the artistry behind every bouquet. But I wasn’t alone—my family and friends were incredibly supportive, patiently enduring all my experiments. (Though, let’s be honest, who wouldn’t love being an official chocolate taste tester?) Their encouragement meant everything, and they became my first ambassadors, eagerly spreading the word.

I started posting on @osweets.atl, and the response was overwhelming. People were fascinated by the idea of edible chocolate flowers—something so visually stunning yet completely delicious. Orders started coming in, and before I knew it, my little passion project was turning into something much bigger.

Fun fact: The name OSweets comes from my first and last name, Oleksandra Sokhonchuk. I chose “Sweets” because I didn’t want to limit myself to just chocolate or just flowers—I wanted to leave room for future creative expansion.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of the biggest challenges has been the labor-intensive nature of my work. Each bouquet requires meticulous handcrafting, from tempering the chocolate to shaping delicate petals and filling each piece with carefully prepared centers. Unlike mass-produced chocolates, there’s no shortcut to achieving the level of detail and quality I aim for. This means production takes time, and scaling while maintaining perfection is an ongoing challenge.

Another hurdle was finding the right balance between pricing and customer perception. Because my bouquets are a premium, handcrafted product, they naturally fall into a higher price range. Helping people understand the value—the artistry, the top-tier ingredients, and the uniqueness of what I offer—took time. But once customers experience them, they immediately recognize they’re getting something truly special.

Sourcing high-quality ingredients was another challenge. I’m extremely selective about what goes into my chocolates, from Belgian chocolate to the best nuts and house-made fillings. Ensuring consistency while keeping up with demand required research and building relationships with reliable suppliers.

Lastly, like any new business, getting visibility was tough at first. While my family and friends were a huge help in spreading the word, I had to actively grow my online presence. Instagram (@osweets.atl) became my primary platform, allowing me to showcase my bouquets and connect with customers in a way that words alone couldn’t.

Despite these challenges, I’ve learned that persistence, passion, and attention to detail make all the difference. Seeing my creations bring joy to people is the most rewarding part of this journey, and that keeps me going.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I create handcrafted chocolate bouquets—stunning, lifelike flowers made entirely from premium Belgian chocolate. Each piece is filled with rich, flavorful centers made from real fruit purées, house-made caramel, praline, and the finest nuts. My work combines art and gourmet craftsmanship to create something truly unique.

What sets me apart is the fact that my chocolate bouquets aren’t just sweets—they’re edible art pieces, designed to add luxury and elegance to any event. I specialize in custom bouquets for weddings, not as gifts, but as gorgeous decor or eye-catching elements for dessert tables. I also create individual chocolate flowers that make for the perfect appreciation gift for guests at bridal showers, baby showers, or any special occasion.

I’m most proud of the joy my creations bring to people. Whether it’s for a wedding, celebration, or as a personal gesture, knowing that my work adds something beautiful and memorable to those moments makes it all worth it.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?

When customers taste my chocolate and see the detail in each flower, I want them to feel that they’re getting something truly exceptional.

Lastly, I value the trust my customers place in me. Knowing that they choose my work to celebrate important moments is both humbling and inspiring. It motivates me to keep pushing the boundaries of what I can create.
