Oluwole Makinde-Odusola

Hi Oluwole, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I was always playing with words and rhythm for as long as I can remember. From being a smartass in school with one-liners and jokes to rapping with the homies in the backyard. It wasn’t until I was in college I had my first real performance at a school talent show.

After my song, everyone was cheering and chanting for an encore, when at this point I only had one song even remotely put together. So I did the same song again and I brought up someone from the crowd to add another verse on the spot. Everyone had a “Flowtastic” experience and I strive to continue to provide that same feeling of fun and excitement.

Being able to make music that keeps people wanting more and adapting to situations on stage all while providing a different kind of experience to the crowd and having fun doing it. That feeling you get when you get a mic in your hand in front of a crowd. There’s hardly anything like it. As for motivation though that has to be my son pushing me forward every day to be a better me than yesterday and provide him with a future that is as bright as he is.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The music industry is definitely saturated with anyone being able to release content anywhere at any time it’s like competing against the world. Doing everything by myself has been rough as well, I appreciate all the love and support I’ve gotten over the years though and I definitely have a few people to thank for various opportunities that I’ve had.

However, I don’t have a team put together to get things done. At the end of the day, I’m truly an independent artist and all the responsibilities of my career as well as successes or failures fall on me.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a Sacramento-based music artist and streamer. My ability to control a crowd and deliver an experience with every performance purely from my music and interaction with people is unmatched. I’m also proud of the way I can adapt to any style of music which over this year everyone will be getting a taste of as I release singles that expand beyond rap and hip-hop. I make music anyone and everyone can enjoy.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you.
Luck is when preparation meets opportunity and I’ve definitely been blessed with plenty of opportunities in my career. Some prepared for and some not quite, but everything I’ve gone through, good and bad, has been a learning experience for the future.
