Today we’d like to introduce you to Patrick Young Jr.. They and their team shared their story with us below:
Patrick Young Jr is a Rising American Actor born in Norfolk, VA. Patrick started his acting Career in Wilmington, NC where he landed a speaking role through Background as a recurring Butler on the Hit TV series “Our Kind Of People” 20th Century Fox.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The Southeast district of the industry have been shooting a lot of time period pieces from back in time. I’ve struggled to land roles due to my hair look. I am an actor with DreadLoc (Locs). I plan on changing the stereotype in Hollywood. You don’t see much A-list actors with locs these days. I do plan on cutting them when I get older. Just for a new revamped look for my acting career.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a Sag E actor. SAG eligible, meaning I worked and been paid for speaking as a principal performer in that union’s jurisdiction (Southeast). I’m known for being Morris Chestnuts Butler on Fox 20th century’s show “Our Kind Of People.” what makes me most proud is that I landed my speaking role from background. Also, I became sag Eligible without an agent. I did it by myself. That right there sets me apart from a lot of actors. I have set etiquette and knowledge. I can hit every emotion as well. My life experiences set me apart from what many actors. I have been through every emotion chasing this dream of mine.
What does success mean to you?
By doing what you love with the people you love.
