Daily Inspiration: Meet Phalan Taylor

Today we’d like to introduce you to Phalan Taylor.

Hi Phalan, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Children have always been drawn to me. I started as the neighborhood babysitter for my home town church. After high-school I moved to Atlanta to continue my education. While in school I work in various childcare settings until one family asked me to nanny full-time.
In November of 2011 Waddie’ Sitting Service was born. Nanning became a pursuit that has blossomed into the current business.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There have definitely been ups and downs. It was a struggle finding the balance between working for others and branching out on my own. I have been fortunate enough to encounter clients that are understand, generous, and willing to share advice according to their field of expertise.
I would love to expand by using the knowledge gained through this experience to help others.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
The thing that sets me apart from others is the same thing that I specialize in, that is providing genuine, outstanding service. By providing service that shows I care deeply about a family’s well-being, my clients are willing to share me with their community. Majority of my clients were obtained through word of mouth.
I cater services for the need of the individual. Whether the individual is the child, the parent, or another caregiver, I use all the knowledge gained from past experiences and education.
I also wrote a children’s book during my tenure as an early childhood teacher. The title of the book is Teeth Are Not For Biting. It helped one of my friends control his urge to bite his friends.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory is the ability to slip into whatever world i created in my head. I loved pretend play. I was and still am shy. I would rather blend into the background than to be center stage, but in my worlds I could be the star.
