Hi Quamay, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Recently went through a lost in my life and it put me in a state of depression, in which through it I decided I will find who I truly am. Somewhere it unlocked a beast of determination and creativity. I decided that I will thrive to do more and put myself out there more. I am a Photographer at heart and a Fashion Designer by gift. Through isolation throughout the year, I got inspired to go back to my roots of why I create and what inspires me. I personally believe my art can change the world in many ways that I plan to show coming in the near future. I have an upcoming magazine called “Dopesi Magazine” this will incorporate a lifestyle for health and inspiring the next generation and my fellow peers. I aim to create a community of successful individuals by highlighting their individuality and creativity through the struggles of life. Just like my story, we all fall into a deep place and amongst all, we create or manifest beauty and show different outlooks on life. With my old Instagram being deleted I have a new one and it was a sign to start over as well and this allowed me to step back into the forefront of my creator side and now what you see now is someone fighting depression with art and regaining my individuality back.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Recently I mentioned I had a loss in my life that I guess you can say woke me up.. transitioning into realizing you are working so hard alone and no one knows the struggle you endure. Having to be at the top of my game when I feel the lowest it’s major pressure. Also being an entrepreneur like myself, I have to work 25/8 making ways to pay bills and have time to create and produce content for my website. The biggest obstacle was accepting that I need to rest more than anything, taking care of myself became top priority.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am what I want to be at all times. Today I’m a Fashion Designer, Photographer, Music Artist, Creative Director, Model, Stylist, Songwriter and Guru! My biggest skill comes into play when I’m doing what I love like attending a fashion show where I have my designs in the show, I could be a model in the show and or a photographer for behind the scene as well. I see myself curating a whole fashion show performance where It’ll be legendary similar to Rihana’s Fashion show with Fenty Savage. I can say that most people know me for just creating dope designs and taking some really dope pictures. Anywhere I go, you may see me with my camera and I’m able to make connections and meet people the people I need to meet. I’m most proud of myself for being in more fashion shows and continuously powering through with confidence and faith. What I can say through it all is that you won’t see many people creating and making art the way I do it’s clearly a lifestyle and it exudes confidence and individuality with all genders and sizes. I create because I love doing it in all aspects. I want to create buildings and communities that excel immensely due to creating dope ideas.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I’m a pretty conservative guy, I’ve seen many hard times and obstacles. I’m so believe it’s fun to take risks and put yourself out there because you never know how good you are at something. You began to gain confidence in yourself. Every day is a gamble for me I never know what will happen I just don’t give up because I know I’m worthy and I don’t believe in quitting in something I love and know that it’s a gift. Find your gift and risk-taking becomes practice.
