Rakisha, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My two brands are ‘CultureYourWrist ‘ and ‘ R.I.C.H.’ CultureYourWrist is my bracelet line. R.I.C.H being my clothing line. Usually when people hear the word ‘rich’ they automatically conjecture it as monetary. However, it’s not about the money, it’s much more prudent than material. Being Rich is about the genuine encounters we have, how we make others feel, and going after what truly makes you happy. It’s about being undaunted and intentional with everything in life.
I was disenchanted with going into the stores shopping for bracelets. I had a powerful desire to find extravagant pieces, something that intrigued me and caught my eye. I coveted to create substance, non-identical and exquisite novelty. To design commodity that was bold and made a statement. Existence that would set me apart from and differ from other people who were in the jewelry business. With each piece made, I want to make a bold statement adorning your wrist while crafting your reality. That’s where and how Cultureyourwrist came about.
I am where I am for numerous of reasons. God first. Innovation and creativity which are necessary traits for a successful entrepreneur. You are honing in on these skills daily. Knowing that each day brings new challenges, exciting opportunities, and a chance to engage your passion. Exhibit to my children that everything in life is a challenge, but if you have the proper tools to navigate, you’ll get through and do well. Ambition is the first step to success. The second step is action.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Was it hard? Hell yeah! It’s easier to get your friends or family to support you, but when you’re merchandising with complete strangers, you have to be ready to execute. Which all could be intricate at times. Nevertheless, if you feel as if you’re really destined for greatness, you won’t let anything nor anyone stops you. No matter how cliché this may sound, it really helps to be ambitious and goal-driven. I have been my biggest critic. Everyone’s meaning of success is different. That being said, what may be great to you may be mediocre to me. Continue to have a plan, be prepared to fail, think of different ways to perfect your craft, never lose that sense of purpose. That’s a recipe for success!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I create custom beaded jewelry and R.I.C.H apparel. I am most proud of stepping out on faith and taking the initiative to build a dynasty, beginning to build a household name. Also, seeing that more people have supported my business, can appreciate what my brands’ names stand for and what it means to me. It is meritorious to me as not just an entrepreneur but as a mother. What sets me apart from others is my ability to effectively create a personal brand for myself within the professional sphere. My sense of Drive, direction and transparency which helps me to build integrity and trust in my customers as they build it with me.
