Today we’d like to introduce you to Ralph Russell.
Hi Ralph, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am a professional DJ, producer, artist and engineer. I am the resident DJ for Cascade Skating Rink, Sparkles Family Fun Center, and I book many other private events. I also DJ for clubs, lounges, weddings, and more. In addition, I produce and engineer for a variety of artists in the metro Atlanta area. I’ve worked with some rising artists, including Anti Da Menace, Wee2Hard, & Quez4real, just to name a few. Even though I produce beats for other artists, I create my own songs as well. Recently, I started rapping and releasing my music to all streaming platforms.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It was not always easy coming up as a DJ. I have developed my own marketing strategies to promote my business and build my clientele. I started my own clothing brand, “DJ 23 Merch”. First, I got my name trademarked and copyrighted. Once I got the proper licenses and paperwork, I began to get T-shirts printed with my logo on the front. Everywhere that I DJ, I give out shirts and merchandise. This was one of the most innovative ideas I’ve done because it helped me develop a brand image and create a professional look for my business. Ever since I started the clothing line, other DJs have come to me interested in creating their own merch as well. I am glad that I was able to influence others to implement this marketing strategy into their business.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in music production and sound engineering. I am most proud of my unique process of creating beats and songs. I have developed my own movement in the music industry and have set myself apart from other creatives from the music I release. From a DJ perspective, I am real versatile when it comes to mixing and knowledge of music. I DJ all types of events, and I have traveled all over the country DJing & hosting parties.
We love surprises, fun facts, and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I recently began rapping and releasing music as an artist. I produce, mix, and engineer all of my music. I taught myself how to engineer last year, and now I collab with other artists/producers in studio sessions weekly.
